A lovely spring weekend in Montana saw us gathered with a bunch of engaged and invested ladies this last weekend.
Friends and family gathered their sisters-in-arms and came out to learn the skills of a Rifleman, and the heritage of an American.

Many thanks to the 11 strong women who came out...we saw tremendous growth in skills and in comfort with manipulating the rifles...we had one returning shooter re-qualify as a Rifleman, and another knocking at the door with a score of 200! Four more were consistently shooting 175-185 and are on the cusp of making the next leap forwards. All shooters made great improvements.

Further thanks to SniperCat, for bringing her family out to assist the Montana instructor corp, and showing us what determination in a dangerous dame looks like! Thanks to Dubz for his tech support, keeping the firing line firing and the target line standing. And to Trebleshooter, for keeping a sharp eye on our youth shooters, providing excellent coaching, and the voice and example of a strong woman in instruction and story telling.

Additional thanks to the North Valley Sportsman's Club for hosting Project Appleseed for something like 13 years in a row now.

Nothing more satisfying and exciting than having a student tell the Immortal 400 story from their own experience living in Brooklyn, visiting the site of the battle, and appreciating the Marylanders' sacrifice BEFORE attending an Appleseed and earning the patch. Huzzah!

What a great group of enthusiastic and engaged shooters. All showed significant progress toward their goals - whether it was to earn that Immortal 400 patch, achieve Rifleman, achieve a Distinguished score (congrats to Deon!), or just to continue on the road to Rifleman, which is well within reach. Sounds like a few folks will be attending a future Pistol and/or RKD event as well.

We had a great weekend at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex! Thanks to the Range, Hobbs, and the attendees for a great weekend.

We were joined by 5, with 2 attending for the first time. Its always great to have youth on the line, and William and Colin did a great job this weekend.

Day 1 had some adjustments to the schedule to dodge some rain, but we had a great time, and Hits Count targets showed good improvement. Tim requalified with a 219 and we all enjoyed a great day of liberty. Colin and William were both awarded young patriots patches.

For Day 2 we had 4 on the line, and after some refreshers got right into it. Scores continued to improve, with Tim creeping close to a distinguished score posting a 237. William and Colin both showed great progress, and are well on the road to earning their own Rifleman patches.

Looking forward to our next event at this range!

We had a great weekend for our 25 Meter event.  With seven shooters, Saturday morning was spent getting everyone's equipment checked out or getting the loaner rifles set up for the shooters.  The morning was successful with everyone getting some decent groups, and I taught IMC to the class to make sighting adjustments.  We took a little more time in the morning, slowly working everyone up to an AQT, but it was worth it.  At lunch, Catch-10-22 told a new, improved First Strike, which I enjoyed a lot.  Everyone was very much engaged in his telling of the history.  That afternoon, we finished up with two AQTs, and everyone was on their way.  We had three Riflemen that day.

On Sunday, the weather was great again, upper 60's and mostly sunny.  We started off working on positions and attempting to sight in a difficult rifle that, in the end, had to be replaced with a loaner.  Late in the morning, we began the AQTs. For the rest of the day, we continued the AQTs with a Parker's Revenge target, which everyone loved.  We handed out some RWVA patches as prizes.  I told the Second and Third Strikes for an early lunch.  By the end of the day, we picked up two more Riflemen, and two of our shooters who had not gotten rifleman yet shot 199 and 203 on the last AQT.  One more day, and they would've made Rifleman too. Huzzah!  There was so much progress made, and we had 5 shooters clear the hits-count target and walk away with an Immortal 400 patch. One of them, who lived in Baltimore, literally told the history of the Immortal 400 in such a perfect way, and has visited the Immortal 400 memorials in New York and Baltimore.

Everyone was safe, and the great weather made for a lot of fun, and everyone saw an improvement in their skills.

A beautiful weekend, and a great turnout!

Leyden with good weather is one of the best places to Appleseed.  It's always a pleasure to be able to take people out to the 100 yard line with their own rifles, and watch them start to internalize IMC scaling, and dialing come ups works.  Watching the redcoat numbers double over the course of the weekend is always a treat for a shoot boss too!
