We were blessed to hold a one-day Appleseed rifle clinic on the 251st Anniversary of the shot heard round the world.  Monticello Sportsmen Club graciously hosted the 15 participants and the seven volunteer instructors.

The day was a glorious day in more than one aspect.  Weather was good, fellowship was better, and the participants were awesome.  While the event was the first for the cadre this year it went smoothly and we were able to get in two AQTs along with the memorial volley and special DOM.  Thank you to the volunteers that made it happen.

For many of the participants this was their first Appleseed with a few being their second.  Safety was great all day and the marksmanship improved all around.

Mark was able to prove his skill by shooing a best score of 234 on the AQT
Tim was able to obtain a 214 on his 2nd AQT
Lee was able to out shoot his brother and earned his Rifleman patch with a 229 at his first Appleseed event.

These same three were able to clear the Hits Count at the end of the day.

Josh, Ted, Bruce, Conor, Josh, Xander, Jonathan, Adian, and Joshua - it was a pleasure meeting each of you and I hope that you will continue to work on your marksmanship skills and look forward to seeing you at future Appleseed events.

Well done to all of you.

Would love for an event in/near Las Vegas both rifle and pistol. Haven't been to one since 2023

I'd like to start off by thanking the York-Adams Game & Fish Association for the use of their facilities, they are gracious hosts, and we could not ask for a better partner in liberty. We had a 3 instructors on site for this two day Rifle Clinic to provide excellent instruction to 7 patriots.

We started off Saturday with cool weather and a Hits Count! target. Instructors worked with the students through the morning to get them comfortable on their respective rifles, build up their prone positions and dial in their sighting systems. History was presented by Bookman and enjoyed by all. By the end of the Saturday, we had 3 cleared Redcoats and even a Rifleman!

Sunday brought cooler temperatures, giving shooters many opportunities at AQTs.

In addition to AQTs, our Riflemen took the opportunity to help out Captain Parker in exacting revenge on the Regulars and Colonel Smith. Across three targets, the shooters exacted quite the toll on the King's troops including 7 hits on Smith! By the end of the weekend, Allison, Mark, Larry and Ed had cleared their Redcoats and earned their Rifleman patch, Huzzah!

As always, remember the lessons you learned this weekend about the rights given to us by our forefathers, and do what you can to preserve these rights by participating in your government, practicing your marksmanship and dry firing at home, and of course coming back for another event and bringing a friend! Overall, an excellent weekend of comradery and history, thank you to all!

Our New Newsletter! / Re: How to Install the USGI Co...

The second thing is the front end of the sling. The instructions have the keeper installed so the latch side faces the stock, and the reason is that it is less likely to snag on things and open accidentally, which makes sense. However, when I set it up that way, sometimes I find the latch side of the keeper against my arm in certain positions. When it is reversed so the flat side is between the sling and the rifle, even if the keeper is against my arm, it's the flat side, which isn't uncomfortable. So that's usually how I set mine up. If you set it up the proper way, how do you deal with the keeper latch to keep it from digging into your arm?

I have used the keeper on the sling facing either direction, for the same reason you mention, so that the flat side would be against my hand or arm. I have found that this matters little as the keeper placement along the sling can be moved to where it is not against hand or arm. Once you have the sling length adjustment, keep that same length by pinching the sling at the front swivel (where it loops back around) and move the keeper to a convenient place to lock it down. Usually, it would end up in that triangle, the tree sides made by the sling, forearm and upper arm.

This was by far one of the most gratifying shoots I have attended. Watching these marines faces light up when their groups tightened up again and again. I am more than looking forward to the next one I work.

Such a great group of kids.
