Welcome to Project Appleseed
Building a Nation of Riflemen
Can you hit a 20-inch target at 500 yards? A Rifleman can.
Project Appleseed can help transform you from a man with a rifle into a Rifleman. A Rifleman is more than a man (or woman) with a rifle. A Rifleman understands that owning and mastering a rifle is part of his heritage as an American. And he knows why: This is a nation founded by Riflemen -- men and women skilled in the use of arms.
Those skills served the colonists well when they stood up to the British on April 19, 1775, at Lexington and Concord, and routed the British forces that tried to seize the colonists' arms. They did it with grit, with determination, and with superior skill in marksmanship. They pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to the task. And they didn't stop until they had won. Throughout history, Riflemen have embodied personal responsibility and been pillars of their communities, characteristics that are becoming ever more rare in our nation.
At Project Appleseed, we want to return America to being a nation of Riflemen. And we want you to join us.
A Rifleman can take a rack-grade rifle and hit targets out to the Rifleman's quarter-mile. If a Rifleman can see the target, he can hit it. Come to one of our shoots and score 210 or better out of 250 on the AQT (Appleseed Qualification Test) and you can earn your Rifleman’s patch.
During breaks, we’ll teach you the true story of the nation that was founded on April 19, 1775, and why liberty was so important to the founders that they would risk everything for it. Project Appleseed believes that the essence of being an American is living up to the ideals of our founders and fanning the flames of
Weekend Marksmanship Clinic: An intensive weekend program shot from three positions at 25 meters, but with targets scaled to simulated shooting at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. Some shoots are mixed centerfire and rimfire, and some are rimfire only. Learn the six steps to firing a shot, natural point of aim, steady hold factors, and much more.
Known-Distance Workshops: A weekend-long program that teaches the secrets of shooting out to 500 yards -- target detection and ranging; measuring and compensating for wind; making the shot; scopes and reticles; MOAs and mils, boxing your sights, battle-sight zero and come-ups, and much more. Centerfire only, shot at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.
Rifleman's Boot Camp: An intensive, week-long program that combines the Weekend Marksmanship Clinic and the Known-Distance Workshop, along with special topics like shooting at unknown distances. The RBC puts you on the fast track to becoming a rifleman – or an instructor. You'll shoot at 25 yards, as well as at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards, and longer if the range is available. You'll be taught all the intricacies of shooting at both known distance and unknown distances. You'll also get the personalized attention you need to hone your skills and become a Rifleman.
But don’t come alone: bring a friend, a neighbor or a spouse. We need everyone to spread the message if we are to once again become "A Nation of Riflemen."
Why “A Nation of Riflemen?”
We are the descendants of those fearless men and women, but their dream of liberty has all but disappeared from the hearts of most Americans. Those original Riflemen held liberty in their hearts and were willing to sacrifice everything to procure it. Project Appleseed aims to reignite the flame of liberty in the hearts of Americans.
