Wow what a great weekend in Lincoln Nebraska.

9 Great Americans came out to have some fun and learn a little marksmanship and a lot of history. We had several fathers and sons, a Grandfather and an Uncle on the line. it really reminded me of that early morning on Lexington green where orders were given by Capt Parker to his men, many of whom he was related to.

Our morning started in the cold shooting the Red Coat target. The targets looked pretty good with 7 out of 9 shooters hitting at least one of the silhouettes 3 times. That said we know we can do better so we got to work. The morning was spent working on the fundamentals. Step by step working our way from how to properly put on a sling to position and even how to aim and shoot our rifles. By Lunch we had a few squares shot and sight adjustments were needed. Thank goodness we had our kids on the line. One age 11 and 2 aged 10 years. They helped us with the easy math that was necessary to figure out inches minuets and clicks.

By the end of day one we finished 1 AQT but no rifleman yet. The red coat showed we doubled the number of 300 and 400 yard shooters.

Sunday was scheduled to be a really nice day. Well the weather man forgot to tell the weather. it was about 50 in the morning with a 20 mile a hour wind. The shootboss from Florida was freezing but there is work to be done so lets get to it.

Many shooters needed to attend church this morning so we started the day with only 2 shooters. We had 3 by the time we shot the red coat. 2 hit the 400 yard target and one nailed the 200 yard target.

As we worked through the day we had many drills and several chances at the AQT. By the end of the day the firearms were giving us trouble. Jams and misfires were troubling several shooters. That environment is hard on rifles. We need to do a good cleaning and use an oil that wont gum up in the cold.

By the end of the day 2  two shooters were no longer just shooters they were RIFLEMAN. Congrats Justin and Greg. Justin scored a 220 and Greg a 215. Both with iron sights.

Tim was well on his way to Rifleman but that seated position was killing him. Keep working it will come. Josh you are consistent. You were running in the high 160's all weekend. Just got to get over that hump. It will all start to click just keep at it.

Callan, Andrew and Brandon were our kids this weekend. You all did a great job not only at keeping safe but in your shooting as well. You all nearly doubled your scores over the weekend. Keep it up you will grow into those rifles and be out shooting your dads before long.

Thanks to all that came out this weekend.
