The range at Southern Lancaster County Farmer Sportsmen's Association was a wind-whipped frozen tundra that resembled Siberia more than southeast Pennsylvania, but still thirteen patriotic Americans came out to learn about rifle marksmanship and their heritage.  Huzzah!  The spirit of Valley Forge is still alive!

Our dedicated crew of instructors shivered right along with the students as we covered firearms safety, marksmanship fundamentals, the events of April 19th, 1775, and shooting positions.  Morale remained high in spite of the inclement weather.  By the end of Saturday marksmanship had noticeably improved.

Our host's noise curfew on Sunday morning gave us an opportunity for extensive review of the previous day's lessons.  When we began on the Appleseed Qualification Test course of fire on Sunday afternoon it was apparent that the lessons had paid off.  Ethan, Chad and Ben had multiple rifleman scores, with highs of 233, 230 and 218 respectively.  John and Tristan posted multiple sharpshooter scores before breaking into the Rifleman ranks with 212 and 210.  Chris, Maggie and Gabe posted Sharpshooter scores but couldn't quite get to Rifleman.  There was A LOT of impressive marksmanship over the weekend, with Ben (4), Chad (2), Maggie, Tristan and Allison clearing Redcoat targets.

Many thanks to the students for coming out in some seriously nasty weather to celebrate our Heritage.  Thanks to our host range for supporting Project Appleseed in the Cradle of Liberty.  Finally, thanks to our instructors for a job Well Done!

What a fantastic event.  Almost 90% were new to Appleseed and of our group that endured the weekend 50% made Rifleman! The event saw snow, sun and wind; yet all persisted and learned.  I am so grateful for all of our Students and the teachable attitude they brought.  It was a great weekend to plant freedom seeds and gather around in fellowship. Great history and wonderful insights from all of the cadre.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the line in the future!
