Mingo Rod & Gun Club once again rolled out the red carpet, this time to host an Appleseed Pistol Clinic.  The students spanned a wide range of experience levels and the weather was HOT! The Saturday morning Redcoat saw most of the students displaying theoretical competency at 44 yards, and by the end of the day that had extended to 60 yards.  We marched through the 20-Dot target like Sherman through Atlanta, but reality gut-punched us when we hit the PQT.  Charles McKinley (216) and kniwolf (214) earned their Pistoleerâ„¢ patches in spite of a long day in the heat.

We started out Sunday with review, re-checking zeroes, and another Redcoat.  Results on the Redcoat were mixed.  This was the only Redcoat of the weekend where nobody hit Pitcairn's Button.  We broke up the PQT Grind with a drill on the Big Dot/Little Dot target, the Sam & Sam story, some valuable feedback on the Course Of Instruction and an excellent lunch provided by our host.  By mid-afternoon the heat and the PQT (that grueling test of the handgunner and their equipment) had begun to degrade the student's skills.  Henry shot a few very respectable scores, but was unable to seal the deal for a Pistoleerâ„¢ patch.  After a final Redcoat, we brought the class to a close.

How excited I am to hear about another great AS event at this club in my hometown of Finleyville. My grandfather and his brother in law basically were charter members of this club. I probably shot my first firearm ever there. I look forward to hopefully being able to attend/work at an event here someday soon. So good to hear that another AS event was held here!

EZ3 Thank you for a great Saturday I learned a lot and not just about pistol shooting.

FullMetalRifleman graduated Sunday and suprised us by singing at the graduation.  I can send a link to it upon request.

CDH there is an Appleseed comming up at Mingo in the Fall.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
