A small but eager group of attendees gathered at the Interlake Sporting Association range in Redmond WA for a full weekend of learning about traditional rifle marksmanship as well as American history and heritage.  The group was deliberate made smaller in order to comply with social distancing recommendations between everyone involved.  The morning was started with the traditional redcoat calibration target were we had no one joining the ranks of Capt. Morgan's rifleman corps, however throughout the day and as instructions were taught and rounds were fired at the various sighting and technique targets, the groups started shinking more and more.  Towards the end of the day Saturday we had 2 attendees join Capt Morgan's rifleman corps by successfully placing a round in the "shingle shot".   Alex and Christian made great improvements throughout the day and were able to place respectiable scores on the Saturday AQT, a few folks were really knocking on the door of 210 with Justin, Trent, and Rhys getting really close to that 210 threshold, unfortunately we ran out of time Saturday but everyone really showed great improvement from the beginning to the end of Saturday.

The weather Saturday was beautiful as was the weather on Sunday, likely due to Sunday being Mother's day, a few folks had other obligations and were not able to attend Sunday's clinic. However we still had 3 attendees comitted to getting a few more "shots" at the AQT to qualify for their Rifleman's badge.  The groups immediately shrunk from a respectable 6-8 MOA down to 2-4 MOA quickly by mid Sunday morning.  By then, we knew that everyone was applying the techniques taught very well, but there were still some additional challenges when a time limit was introduced into the various stages of the AQT.  Eric and Trent were able to successfully break through that 210 threshold with very respectable scores of 216 and 226, with Trent shooting near perfect scores on stage 1 and 3 on two separate AQTs.  Congratulations gentlemen to your well earned Rifleman patch, HUZZAH HUZZAH HUZZAH!  Rhys finished Sunday with a high of 206 which was extremely close, except for a single shot placed before NPOA was verified, which became a costly oversight.  We finished the day Sunday with another redcoat calibration target which resulted in Eric completely clearing the target.  Huzzah!

To all of you who came to join us on this beautiful weekend, I thank you all for your dedication to spending the day with us and improving ourselves and our country together.  Do not be discouraged if you were not able to achieve Rifleman, it is not an easy task to achieve and requires practice, practice, and practice.  One of the most valuable things you can do at your own time, anyday of the week, is to dry practice getting into positions quickly, finding NPOA quickly, switching targets and regaining NPOA quickly, and those things that make up the 3 legs of the stool (steady hold factors, 6 steps of firing the shot, and NPOA).  Make sure ammo/magazine is well away from you (in a separate room if need be) when you dry practice to avoid any potential of having a rifle unknowingly loaded.  Those positions which are uncomfortable to you now, will become less and less uncomfortable over time, and you'll find yourself getting into those positions faster and faster.

I hope to see each of you again on the line at a later event, please don't forget the 7th step of firing the shot, invite a friend/family along next time, and help us spread the word of Liberty and bring awareness to the sacrifice of those generations before us to secure the freedoms we all enjoy today.
