It was a cool morning when the cadre arrived to set up the target line. But the forecast was for sun and 50s by afternoon. The first order of business was to present Kelly (forum name to come soon) with her blue hat. Thanks for stepping up! Fourteen patriots arrived for an awesome day of Appleseed! After everyone settled in, we opened with the official welcome speech, discussing what Appleseed was all about as well as what would take place over the weekend.

Next up were the most important blocks of instruction - safety! By then the sun was moving higher in the sky, so it was off to the line to show those redcoats what we were about. We discovered there was room for improvement, so we were off and running with the marksmanship instruction. We covered sling use and prone, then the three legs of the marksmanship tripod - the six steps, NPOA, and steady hold factors. We also covered eye dominance (some shooters were surprised at their results!) and did a trigger exercise. After a few more squares, we discovered that we had some good groups, so we moved right into talking targets and IMC.

Next up was a very important block - lunch! However, we enhanced that with a most excellent presentation of the first strike by Roswell and the second strike by Mechanic.

After an exciting lunch break, we went right back to work. We shot some more squares, made some sight adjustments, then moved on to instructions for the sitting and standing stages, sprinkling in coverage of transitions as we went.

We took an afternoon break to hear 6Bones tell us the third strike.

Then it was time for AQTs. We got one in on Saturday, which was enough to reveal a man among us who knew what he was about. Scott requalified with a 249!

Roswell did a presentation of William Diamond patches to the youth shooters. We had four, including one young man that was six years old and shooting a rifle for the first time. We love to see young people on the line! Then we closed out with the benediction.

Sunday morning was cool again, but the forecast was sun and 60s. Thirteen shooters returned despite losing an hour of sleep to Daylight Savings Time. We started off the morning with a presentation on "Our Lives, Our Fortunes, and Our Sacred Honor," a book about the fate of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. We covered safety once again, then took on those pesky redcoats once again with marked improvement over the Saturday string of fire! Using TPI, we completed a full review of the Saturday instruction. Then it was time to try the AQT again. We got one in before lunch!

During lunch, we heard about some dangerous old (and young) men and women from WileyCoyote, Bug_7, and Roswell.

Then it was back to the AQTs. We got three in. We also sprinkled in a few more blocks of instruction - the awesome NPOA mag change drill, ball and dummy, KD, rifleman's bubble, and rifleman's dance.

We closed up shop with some words of wisdom and encouraged all to seventh step.

We ended the day with seven new riflemen (Huzzah!) and Scott did it again with a 247 requal. David posted a 212. Madelyn posted a 218. Jackson, you were knocking on the door, and with a boltie no less! Keep practicing. Your going to make rifleman soon! Glad y'all came as a family. Alanea posted a 221. Heather qualified with a 213 and Michelle with a 212. Harry started with a 210 and got baptized with water from the North Bridge. Then he backed that up with a 219! Our blue hat Kayleigh spent a lot of time behind her rifle and showed great progress. She cleared a redcoat on Sunday! Keep it up. You're going to get that patch soon! Lisa, Brad, and Mike, you all shot well and showed good improvement. Everyone keep practicing the steady hold factors, six steps, and NPOA. I know you can all qualify and we look forward to seeing you on the line again. Remember, a rifleman persists!

This event was epic! A rifleman always shoots by the numbers and this event had very impressive numbers.

15 shooters, 7 new Riflemen, 1 requal (249 of 250), 1 new blue hat, 1 new shoot boss and many promotions. And SO MANY knocking on the door! Remember, a Rifleman persists. Each of you have what it takes to shoot rifleman. Persist and dry fire! I hope to see each and everyone of you on the line again.

This was a great event. I enjoyed working with all the instructors and the shooters. I really enjoyed seeing the families shooting together and having fun. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next event.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
