What a wonderful winterery weekend 22lr known distance event! Many thanks to Orwell Gun Club for hosting Project Appleseed again. Orwell is fast becoming an anchor for Northeast Ohio.
The weekend started off Saturday in the mid 30's as we began our safety brief and review of the steady hold factors. Rifles were brought to the line and the real work began. We s tarted off verifying our 25yd zeros moving on quickly to 50, 75, and 100 yards using the theoretical come ups and then verifying. Just before lunch we did a short ranging exercise, first determining front post (reticle) size, then verifying the size of some steel plates hanging at 100yards. Rifles were removed from the line so that everyone could warm up and enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Crazyduckhunter. After lunch we reinforced the ranging exercise by determining the distance to several 18" pieces of chloroplast posted. After that it was into the KD aqt grind.
Sunday morning was spent checking out a come-up sheet from the 22kd committee. After this exercise it was back to the aqt! We had multiple qualifying scores, with crazyduckhunter and EZ3 qualifying, and Alex qualifying distinguished! Due to the temperature and the winters mix weather, it was decided that the event qualifying as a winterseed and the blue patches came out.
Even though the turnout was low, a good time was had by all....well, most all. For some reason kielbasa and sauerkraut, Mexican, and stuffed cabbage should not be consumed for back to back to back meals.... :2t

Thank you again to EZ3, cwcdl79, crazyduckhunter and gijoe who came out to put on this 22LR KD event. I can't recommend enough to all those who've qualified Rifleman to attend one of these events and shoot out to full 22LR distance. It's a great experience and ties in directly with the centerfire KD events.

It was my first event at Orwell, but it won't be my last!  It was great working through a "beta test" of the .22 KD curriculum with a group of highly motivated instructors.  :snipersmi
We do need to refine the menu planning for next time, however.   :slap:

This was a great weekend to enjoy at the Orwell Gun Club. Once again we thank the members of the club for allowing us to use the rifle range and for supporting our shared mission. I thought the food was excellent. It really helped everyone to get rid of what ails you for sure.

Following along with Bamafan7 - I highly encourage everyone to get that 22 out to a Rimfire KD this year. Same challenges as a center fire full distance KD. And, a lot of fun with cheap ammo. If you are running the same optics on your 22 as your center fire rifles even better. What a chance to learn your optics. The ranging exercise of determining distance using your optics was invaluable.

Looking forward to the next event at Orwell.

Sounds like a Rootin-Tootin good time.  >:D
