Well we went, it was a BEAUTIFUL day, and we had a good time and learned a BUNCH.
We did NOT, however, successfully score a Rifleman's score on a standard AQT posted at 100 yards.

In attendance were Jerry Hall, Mr. Smith, VXMakesMeTwitchy, DesertRose, ACPJunkie, and myself.
Using only a sling, even ACPJunkie only managed scores in the 170s, and he's probably the strongest shooter in the group.

The consensus is that the challenge simply isn't do-able using traditional Appleseed techniques. With mainstream match gear and a bipod, maybe, but not with a sling only.

The flipside is that EVERY SINGLE FLAW in the shooters' techniques, flaws that don't really hurt you at 25m, are stripped bare for the world to see when applied at 100 yards and attempting 1 MOA accuracy. Boy, was that an eye-opener.

That does make this challenge an extremely useful training tool.
At any rate, we all had fun, and it was good to hang out and shoot together outside of an event and in a more social environment.

Cheers, ya'll.
