Colebrook Ct, June 23, 2018

Some cool and damp weather did little to hinder the 12 attendees at the one day shoot in Colebrook at NWCSA.  Even though June, sweatshirts and jackets were the norm with variable light rain, down pours and mist happening at times throughout the day.

With the assistance of CAANY, Parallax and Cameron the POI's were taught, demonstrated and confirmed at the 25m line. Steady progress was made thru the morning before the lunch break and the first strike.

The afternoon commenced with a warm up on a redcoat with assigned 3 man teams, all vying for a win and 'bragging rights'. Team Revere showed how to do it even with being only a 2 man team! HUZZAH!   ^:)^ ^:)^  All the teams fared well in the exercise. We then went over other field positions and started firing AQT's.

A thought had come as we had access to the max distance of 175 yards, that we should incorporate KD at this shoot. tThe 22 shooters were to fire at 100, CF at 175 yds. The firing line and mostly 10-22's for the rimfire shooters but a wide assortment of centerfire rifles, including a Ruger scout 308, SKS, Savage 110 308, M1 308, an ARa2, Bergara 6.5 and #1*3 SMLE. The shooters got a chance to stretch their legs with a CF, get an idea on zeroing  and trajectory and confirm at a decent distance. It made for a hectic but rewarding afternoon, which was followed up by the last AQT and redcoat.

Before the last AQT, we did have 2 Riflemen!, Mike, his second time at an Appleseed did it with room to spare, a 220 and a 224! Pat, a repeat offender requalifyed with a score of 223, Nice shooting gentlemen! Improvement was seen in many others  along the way. All told a very good group to work with.

I'd like to thank the Northwestern Ct. Sportsmen's Assn for use of the range. It has a great layout and the covered line was much appreciatted by the shooters during the liquid sunshine phase of the day. We look forward to events held there in the future.

The IT crew of CAANY and Parallax did their usual best at POI's, demos and line work, spending the extra time with students where needed. Thank you for your efforts.

Lastly, the NE region has a new OH, Cameron, forum name TBD, has stepped up to get involved in AS. Shouldn't be a problem as his dad, CAANY, will most likely be guiding him along the way. Thanks for joining the crew!
