Just received this today:
This is confirmation that we have received and approved your set up for D-Day Conneaut 2018. Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Project Appleseed has once again been accepted as a display at Conneaut, OH D-Day re-enactment, Aug 17 & 18th, 2018 - the largest D-Day event in the nation. Over 25,000 visitors and 1,800 re-enactors!
Last year, we gave out ECIs and targets. Looking for ideas for this year. ECIs for sure. Maybe a certain number of kids T-shirts given out by drawing a specially marked ECI out of a bag.....Help me out here with some ideas. I sort of need to lean towards WWII..I show WWII M1 training films on a flat screen TV.

This is an AMAZING event! They really honor the few remaining WWII vets. I would bet that this might be the greatest gathering of them in the nation.

The new range in Sandusky, OH is a result, in part, because of this event last year.

Also in Conneaut, OH June 2 & 3rd is the first Project Appleseed weekend at Monroe Sportsman's Club. Three events are also planned at nearby Orwell, OH, through the work of CrazyDuckHunter.

Great news Birdman!

For all of you that have had this on your "roundtuit" list and those just now hearing of this great event, PLAN ON COMING TO D-DAY OHIO 2018!  You will not be disappointed.

My entire family looks forward to this every year.

Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

I will be there both days this year since I was able to get Friday off from work. I will ensure that the flat screen gets to Birdman for the videos.

I stopped at the CMP the other day and purchased two M14 plastic stocks for cheap. I figure that I can set these up with laser pointers and mats for demonstrations on the AQT targets.

We also have the new AS event in Madison at the Urbandale Gun Club in July.

A great big thanks to Birdman for doing the work for AS to arrange a booth location at the D-DAY every year. I am one of the ones that started on the AS trail due to meeting Birdman at this event.

Less than one week away! Who is coming?
Our spare house near the event is available. Bring sleeping bags. There are several couches, some beds. two baths, air conditioning.

Funny thing...

I was heading to Newark a couple of weeks ago to attend the 27th annual All Thompson Show & Shoot put on by the The American Thompson Association. On the way around Dayton from the Cincinnati area, I stopped in a surplus store in Kettering that I had found through some Google searches. As I was browsing, I saw a really interesting looking load carrying rig hanging in the back corner. It looked Russian and I asked the lady behind the counter about it. She said it belonged to one of the guys from the warehouse, that it was for sale and she would have him come up to talk to me about it.

Turns out this guy was a former SERIOUS paintball player, but he had recently converted to WWII reenacting and joined a German unit called the "100th Jager". He was selling off his paintball gear (mostly Russian digital flora stuff) to fund some additional WWII gear. I asked him about his unit and where he attended events. He quickly pointed to a big Conneaut D-Day poster on the wall that I had missed entirely. He attended last year and was so enthralled he just had to get involved. He said it was the coolest thing ever.

Unfortunately, I had already committed to an Appleseed in Piqua for that weekend so can't go this year, but I will definitely be there next year.

I will probably be there by 8am. Call when you arrive. 440-375-1073. Parking for 3 at my cousin Karl's, across the street from the entrance. I will park in the vendor area to free a spot up for 'seeders over at Karl's.

You guys have a great time.  I wish I could be there but family matters come first.  Enjoy and post some pictures.

I just passed 5 tanks that were heading to the battle.....
The weather looks to be great this weekend.
I am in need of Project Appleseed banners of any sort for the tent.

This great event is now over! Many thanks to Lee, Ron, and Chuck. You really made this event easy and fun. What great WWII Vets we met!
We had dozens of great contacts that I know will soon be shooting on our line.
I have only a few pictures. Here they are:

Crazyduckhunter

Awesome weekend event.
  Don't forget Joe!

Met many potential  guests to the AS firing lines. Yeah Chuck we sent many your way for Slippery Rock next month. Sell it out and OH will be down to lend a hand.

So great meeting those who sacrificed. If anyone involved in AS has not been to this event I would strongly suggest making plans for next year. The 75th anniversary of D-Day!

Birdman

My fingers were not hooked to my brain. Absolutely, thanks to Joe as well! The TV worked great! Everything went real smooth! Many hands make easy work.

Chuck,
I did see him on Sunday but did not talk with him again so not sure if he left any information.
The range was Gem City? Something like that?
