We need volunteers in sales, marketing, PR, IT, and general "running of an organization."
Maximize your Appleseed energy to make this program grow, and help fill the empty spots
on the firing line!  An hour of time spent at this level can have the impact of ten or a
hundred hours on the firing line.  Want to help? Send a PM to Monkey!

We had a great one day event with good spring weather to commemorate the Anniversary of Lexington and Concord. We had five participants and four instructors and a Applecore volunteer.  Special thanks to TejasLady, Booney Stomper, Nashville Stage and Dracomeister for stepping up to support a one day mid-week shoot.

It was a fast day, but we got everything in including three AQTs with two participants, George A and John B shooting Rifleman.  George A is also stepping up to take an Orange hat.

Nashville Stage

Thanks to TNcolonel for a great event at Arnold Air Force Base.

The class & instructors.

Instruction by shoot boss TNcolonel.

Telling the story of the First Strike by instructor Booney Stomper.

Instructor in training Dracomeister teaching the prone position. Modeling by instructor in training Nashville Stage.

Using a laser to demonstrate proper steady-hold factors.

Instruction on the standing position.

Demonstrating the sitting position

Fun times.

Teaching Inches, Minutes, and Clicks. "One degree is *this* big!"

Fire!

Running the line.

Watching & helping the students.

Catching a breath before the next string of fire.

Diagnosing issues. After a course of fire, Tim's scope fell off of his rifle. Now that's a surprise! His brand-new rifle turned out to have an incompatible rail & scope mount combination that just barely held it in place. Thankfully, we were able to get it re-mounted so he could keep shooting. Nashville Stage worked with him to get it quickly sighted back in, even though it was no longer hitting paper (the impact had shifted about 2.5 feet). Tip: If a rifle isn't hitting anywhere on paper and the target backer has too many holes to see where the shots are landing, find the largest sheet of paper you can get (an AQT or full-distance target works well), turn it around so the blank side is facing out, and have the student shoot at that. Mount a squares target (or just put a dot with a marker) in the middle for an aiming point.

Checking the targets. What are they saying?

A few locals decided to walk out in front of the firing line. We paused for some storytelling while they meandered off into the woods.

Practicing trigger control & proper reset.

Getting a proper cheek weld.

Tweaking the sling position.

At the end of the day, we fired a victory volley in memory of those who fought on April 19th, 1775.

Two of the students made Rifleman! Huzzah!

This was George's second Appleseed, and he decided to become an instructor in training, too!

Congratulations, gentleman. Everyone shot amazingly well, and many of you were very close to getting your Rifleman patch. I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!

Had a great time and the weather couldn't have been better! Great group of Shooters and Instructors and a 40% success rate, equipment failures and all! Looking forward to the next event!  :)
