"     ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - Participation in clay target shooting is booming at Minnesota schools.    "

"    The surge in shooting teams in schools also is happening statewide. The Minnesota State High School Clay Target League, which allows competitors in grades 6-12, fielded 13 teams in 2010. In 2014, the number was 185.

More than 40 more teams have signed on for 2015, according to the league's vice president, John Nelson. Nelson says the sport often attracts students who don't play sports with balls or pucks.    "

We are currently working to get a HS team started in Rochester.  Working on legal issues.

We will have one in Winona, and it will be shooting at WSC, where we hold Appleseeds.

I'd like to try and revive the old rifle team as well.

Each school district decides whether it will support a team or not.  Sometimes individuals on the local board or at a certain school oppose the idea of any shooting sports team based on their own personal politics.  I have seen examples of both.  In one case, we  turned the parents of the would-be team members loose on the school board member.  That was actually fun to watch.

With so many shotgun teams exploding out in MN, I completely agree with you.... now is the time to go after the schools to encourage rifle teams!  I think we should put together some materials and send out to them.
