AFTERMATH

What do you all say we use MN's facebook page to help folks find the ammo they need.

This will have several benefits.  It'll help potential shooters find ammo for a shoot and it'll build our page's activity and audience.

The MN page is here:  https://www.facebook.com/MinnesotaProjectAppleseed

Like the page, and when you're out and about and notice someone's got .22lr in-stock - make a post letting folks know.
If you go there, you'll see an example from last night.

P.S.  I'm sure everybody here who's got a facebook account has already liked the page and invited all their friends, right?

Hop to it!   ~~:)

22 LR is available in the 16 cent per round online at a bunch of places. No limit on the $80.00 bricks of 500.  Go figure #)  Cabelas  and Bass Pro have been getting it in at near normal prices on a regular basis and Recobs in Sauk City WI has had Aqualia in stock for 2 weeks @ $30.00 per 500 .  I hear the Fleet Farms are getting ammo also.  I will post on FB when I see something.

Maybe all the prepers at last have enough 22 LR for Grandpa's Marline 60.

Yeah, now it's down to people impulse buying, because it's been gone so long...  But it's trickling in for sure.
"I can't find ammo" was never really a valid excuse - Just because you can't afford what's out there doesn't mean you can't find it.  If I really NEEDED it, I'd pay the $80/500...

No national twitter account at this point.  There were a couple a few years ago, but long disused, and I don't think anyone knows the PWs.   :shootself:

I have enough .22 to supply one, possibly 2 shooters at the Waite Park event next weekend.  It will be available at the cost I paid retail if you are OUT and unable to obtain any at a reasonable price.  I also have a glut of 7.62X54R military ball and some 8mm I could part with.

I'll bring the .22 regardless.  Let me know if you are in need of X54r and/or a rifle to shoot it with.

I have some Twitter experience.  My personal account has a decent following.  I could help setup a MN or National Appleseed account if anyone likes.....

We're in the process of cleaning up our social media presence.  It might be a good idea to hold off on establishing new "national" social media accounts until we're ready to roll out and manage an organization-wide plan.

Looks like there is a grant program that has cases of Federal .22lr for youth shooting sports
that Appleseed State levels could apply for- looks like they sell cases "at cost" for youth programs

Very much worth a shot!  K submitted this for MN.  I contacted Gamehaven and Wakapota Boys Scouts to try and get them to sign up too.  They said they would look at it.  I am getting some push back from the scout groups locally as they want to focus on "archery" for political reasons.  I am attempting to convince them otherwise.

Here's a link to find near real-time .22 and other ammo availability.  Still insane prices as of right now, but much more availability than I've seen for a few weeks.  Seems a big lot of Rem Tbolt and Fed just hit the market.

I've personally bought thousands of rounds of .22 ammo off gunbot.net and much of it at or near retail. The trick is to sign on early in the morning, set an alert and be ready to jump on it as soon as a "good deal" pops up. Use it at off-peak times to have the best chance of finding ammo. I've also had some luck at local retail establishments by finding out when they get shipments and arriving early and/or being friendly with the people who work there. But mostly gunbot.

Things that are worthwhile often take a bit of effort but the only ammo I've really had trouble finding in the last year is 22 mag.
"We have always looked upon men as a set of beings naturally free - that a people can never be divested of those invaluable rights and liberties which are necessary to the happiness of individuals, to the well-beings of communities or to a well regulated state, but by their own negligence, imprudence, timidity or rashness. They are seldom lost, but when foolishly forfeited or tamely resigned." ~Jonas Clarke
