Is there anymore info on these gun show bans?

I believe it was 94 when Los Angeles county board of supervisors led by  zev yaroslavski sp?
Banned the "great western show" which was the worlds largest bringing net income to Los Angeles county of 14 million per year .
Today the same venue would probably bring in est 20 million.

Many folks choose to buy items in neighboring Orange County which appreciates revenue, whether from sales tax or gun shows .
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Last weekend in Saratoga, NY, we had reporters and cameras in our faces all friday evening as we set up. They were not so much interested in the pro/anti-gun debate as the pro/anti show situation. Our position was framed around how the show had been in existence for many years and brought hundreds of exhibitors in to town, with the accompanying motel rooms and meals, among other things. This seemed to go over well with the media. The 2 fellows that run the facility are pro-gun, so that helped a lot. The noise was from a petition started by a local gun-hater to ban the show; that's basically what it came down to, a bunch of noise. Their demonstrations out front were pretty small, and the drive-by folks were obviously tooting and hooting for our pro-gun folks out there and NOT the anti-gun folks.

That being said, the facility managers were to meet later with the chamber of commerce to shore up our position in hopes of having the next show in a few months with less or no resistance. To that end, they need positive feedback on show impact. Anecdotal sharing is excellent for this. For example, I was able to share that one exhibitor was in a terrible bind, had a broken down truck, and through encouragement, he borrowed $50 for gas to get to the show. He did $11,000 of business. For the little Mom and Pop businesses, these shows are possibly their only chance to get some decent exposure and do some business. We need to use that angle.

To satisfy the law, every exhibitor has a posted sign, to the effect that no sale will be made without a NICS check, INCLUDING private sales by one individual to another. These parties may approach show management to have a check run.

Hope this helps. We NEED these to go on, they are good for and sometimes [as you could tell from above] ESSENTIAL for business.
