OU is hosting a "Teach-in on America's Founding" on Monday, Feb. 27.  David Hackett Fischer is the second speaker on the lineup.  Looks like some good stuff!  I know the date and time isn't the greatest for those of us who work for a living, but if you can make it, it should be an interesting event.  Thanks to Bob Coates (rawhide) for letting me know about this.  I may be able to make it, at least for Mr. Fischer's part... though I would also really like to hear the first guy talk about Jefferson (my favorite founder)!
"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Isaac H. Tiffany, 1819
