Project Appleseed

We had the privilege of hosting a private event for Trail Life at Ares Training Facility this past Saturday.  What an amazing group of young men!  They were so well behaved, well mannered, and had the greatest attitudes I have ever seen in such a group of young people.  Some of these boys will be on the line again real soon shooting for score at a 2 day event!  I cannot wait to see all of you again!  We played a little game with the green coat target to see who could get the highest score and ORAN won the game!  What a lot of fun that was!  J Goodknight eve expressed some interest in coming an Appleseed Instructor!  HUZZAH!  That's what we like to hear!  There were so many stand out kids on Saturday, it's tough to call them all by name, but there are a few I'd like to mention.  Hayden!  Once he started staring at the crosshairs instead of his target, his pattern went from shotgun large to a 4MOA group!  OUTSTANDING!  Jackson told me that this was his first time EVER shooting, and told me that he had so much fun!  Kellen!  I had to tell him what an amazing job he did with safety!  He didn't miss a single thing all day!  He was textbook perfect with his prep period and cease fire procedures.  I could go on and on about each person, but I will end this by saying thank you for troop leader Eddie for helping out with registration and ammo and making sure each and every kid helped clean up.  We appreciate you so much! Pictures are coming!  Again, kudos to you all for making each instructor smile on Saturday.  You made a huge impression on us all.

Brrrrr! The day started out with temperatures barely forty, but a beautiful sunny day saw freezing instructors, dads, and boys dressed for the occasion show Lady Liberty that they were up for the challenge. I must admit being a bit envious of a serious fur hat worn by a dad. 😁
Trail Life Boys groups are terrific students and this group proved deserving of that high standard. 👍
DeadEyeFireGuy deserves a hero medal as even TWO newly broken wrists aquired in a live firefighter training drill didn't keep him away from Appleseed! Inspiring! Amazing pain tolerance too.  Let's all send Mat 🙏 as surgery may be his first stop on the road to recovery.

Huzzah Dead Eye Fire Guy!!  The stuff legends are made of!

What a great group of students!  Everyone was so nice.  The students practiced excellent safety.  It was great to meet them all. A good time was had by students and instructors alike.  It started out a brisk 41 degrees, well brisk for Florida.  As soon as DeadEyeFireGuy shows up with two broken wrists I thought, yea I can handle the chilly air.  What a trooper.  It is a rare event in Florida that you don't sweat at but this was one of them. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to volunteer with such skilled and seasoned instructors.

Congrats on a fantastic weekend. It looks like it was a great event. Love the pics and videos. Trail Life kids and families are wonderful to work with. Cudos to an excellent Shoot Boss and crew.

Thank you to all the students who were very receptive to instruction and followed the safety rules while still having lots of fun. And thanks to all the other instructors for making the event run as smoothly as it did! (I,A,O)
