Project Appleseed

What a great event. 13 people turned out at Ricks place for an April 19th Project Appleseed shoot. Our morning started with a little history and some shooting at the red coat target. We found lots of issues right from the start. 2 rifles would not cycle with the ammo they had and many were not hitting the targets.

The instructors did what they do and we got to work. Lunch was provided by Rick and his family and during the break in the shade we told stories of that day so long ago where "AMERICAN" history truly started.


The heat of the day took its toll on the shooters, but we were able to get in 1 AQT by the end of the day. No new rifleman that day but day two is coming...

The shooters asked if we could shoot an AQT first thing in the morning while it was cool. Sure why not. We shot our Red Coat target and went right into a an AQT. Again, no rifleman but the instructors evaluated the AQTs to see where the work needed to happen. We spent the next few hours honing the skills needed to shoot to the rifleman's quarter mail. The next AQT we almost doubled some of the scores.

2 New rifleman were discovered this weekend. Congrats to Garret and Rick. Tony you almost got there with an impressive 203. All of our shooters did great. Eva it was a long day but remember those words. "Nothing worth having comes easy". Your dad has some targets. Put them to use and you will be out shooting him in no time.
