The day started humid and warm. Despite the increasing temps and humidity, our students were attentive and maintained interest throughout the instruction. Many thanks to our gracious hosts at Mountain Top Gun & Archery Range. We always enjoy the covered firing line and the spacious classroom!

Having a large instructor crew made light work of setting up the target line and the flags - thanks to the crew for arriving early and ready to work  O0

After welcoming and the 1st Strike we went to work on safety and marksmanship. The morning Redcoat target let us know we had our work cut out for us with the highest score of 1 shooter at 200 yds.

By lunchtime, we had our first Riflemen with Simon (218 & 212) and Joseph (217 & 212) showing that they are young men that know what they are about. It wasn't long before John (218) joined the ranks of Rifleman as well. One of our cadre also scored with 228 and 224.

We also had Martin and his three daughters with us. While they all showed significant progress they sadly had to leave us early. Eagle Keeper and BlueGrassColonel finished the story of April 19th with marvelous renditions of the 2nd and 3rd Strike respectively. Well done, gentlemen!

The afternoon Redcoat was evidence of the hard hard and fatigue, but the Sunday morning Redcoat had 4 shooters @ 400yds and 1 @ 300 yds with 3 shingle hits and 1 clearing the target. What a difference a good night of rest makes  :)

Sunday morning also had the shooters coaching each other during Ball & Dummy exercise. This was well received as the shooters were able to see for themselves minor, but important, errors and offer corrections.

After lunch and the Known Distance presentation all shooters were doing well enough to move some backers to 100yds and gain practical experience with trajectory and a bit of wind (it's not called Mountain Top for nothing!). Our shooters quickly and correctly performed IMC to move their groups onto target.

Moving back to 25m (and of course having the shooters return to zero) allowed us to get in several more AQTs. The dreaded Time Monkey must have gotten lost because he was never seen or heard.

Many patches earned and 3 IIT promotions made for a great weekend.

Thanks again to our hosts at Mountain Top Range and many thanks to a dedicated and focused instructor cadre  O0
The difference between a novice and a master: the novice does it until they get it right. The master does it until they can't get it wrong.

This was a very enjoyable event.  A great cadre and a great group of shooters.  I hope Martin will be able to bring his family out again.  i predict we will have to give out some more Rifleman patches if they do.

My father didn't serve in WWII.  It wasn't for lack of trying.  He attempted to enlist 3 separate times.  The last time the doctor said he was too short.  He responded that he signed up again because he said he saw a poster that was recruiting short men to be pilots.  The doctor said, "Short, yes.  But this is ridiculous."  In my book, he's still a hero.
