The day dawned without even a hint of rain ahead. When can we say that about Orwell? Our last two shoots left a "mud-bowl" behind. Fortunately, CrazyDuckHunter had the foresight to suggest an alternate area of the range, and it workout perfectly.

We opened the morning with an introduction to Appleseed, and the awarding of several service pins. Thanks to Dom and CrazyDuckHunter for working over 25 shoots each, and to GMJoe for far exceeding the 10 level.

Everyone learned the Appleseed safety rules and how to make rifles safe, along with several other topics, then it was out to the line for the morning Redcoat.
We already had two who knew what they were about. Congrats to Mark and David.

Wanting to ensure that everyone we up to speed, we began with some instruction on slinging-up, Steady-hold-factors, Six Steps and NPOA.

It wasn't long before folks were putting it all together, then learning the basics of IMC and how to adjust sights.

Introducing the practice AQT showed us that there were several in the group who had more than learned the basics.

At lunch, we shared some history, then back to the range for some more practice. The weather was so nice that we decided to stay outside the remainder of the day.

We closed out the day with the afternoon Redcoat, and found another who clearly "Knew what he was about".

Sunday morning was just as nice. The weatherman actually forecast a "Delightful" day! Dom provided a review of the things that we had learned on Saturday.

After the morning Redcoat, we spent some time on Carding the Sights.

We spent the rest of the day hammering out AQTs, and by the end of the afternoon, we had 5 Riflemen in the group. Congrats to David, Mark, Eric, Todd and Josh. And to Dom for his instructor requal.

The event wouldn't be complete without the closing Redcoat. Eric, Mark and David showed the rest of the group how it's done.

Sydnee received the "Most Improved" award, with Glenn close on her heels.

Thanks to all who came out to our event, and many thanks to the Orwell Gun Club for allowing us the use of your range. Without you, we would find it hard to hold our events.

Huzzah! What a "delightful" event at Orwell! No mud, great students, and lovely weather. Todd and josh, you two soaked up the instruction like sponges. Sydney,  once we got you into a rifle that ran, you were off to the races! Cant wait until the next one!

Crazyduckhunter

Delightful was most certainly the word of the weekend. The weather was just perfect for us. This might just be the first time we did not have to deal with rain and mud at this venue. So good to see a few returning Appleseed veterans come back to an event to once again show they know well what they are about. Always great to see a father and son team up to spend quality time together and both score above that 210. Sydney and Glenn were a delight to be with over the weekend and many thanks to their father Carl for bringing them. The improvement of both of these youths was a rare treat for this crew to enjoy. Look forward to the next event to be held at Orwell.

Great job team Orwell.  Looks like a great event and I am glad that the new set up worked well.  Congrats to all the shooters and to the Orwell team.  Well done.
