Hello I'm looking for some steel targets for KD practice.  They don't have to be D target shaped.

What are your favorite targets and where to get them for the best price.

On similar note what steel do you use for pistol practice?

For shipping concerns I'm in Western PA and have access to business delivery.

Thanks.

Chuck

Hey there Chuck

I have a steel custom shop and retail outlet near me. I draw a design and they make it to my specs.
I try to find pieces of what I want in the drop room, (Scrap pieces), sold by the pound. They are good to deal with around here.

There is a web-site for online buying from another source I've used, its Hang Fast Targets . com.

Let know if I can help.

Quite a few more choices online finding this link.

I have not used any of these, but you might want to use discarded lengths of garden hose instead the package reccomended chain to hang these targets.

Mark thank you for the link.  They only have single targets at my WM at about double that price.

Thanks,

Chuck

As for price you probably cant beat the below unless you know a guy.  8 inch steel on sale for 19.99.   I think shipping is also on sale for 4.99.  I own one of these but have not shot it yet so i cant say much about it other than it is as advertised.  I plan to use it for 100 yd KD with a group a boy scouts next week.

I like the D targets and Morgan's Shingle at this site, but don't have any experience with them.

I own and have used Champion and Do-All targets.  My Champion targets are made in the USA.  Do-All is a local business for me (but the ones I have are made in China).

My vote goes to Action Targets. I've got one of their E silhouette targets https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/at-128-e-50-silhouette.asp. It's 1/2-in thick AR550 and rated for 50 BMG at 100 yards. It is also rated for pistols at 10 yards due to the angle of the plate. They are not cheap, but extremely well made. I'd like to have a couple more.

I also have a couple of targets on this setup: https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/mutli-star-kit.asp I have the star and an eight inch gong on the same stand. The legs and crossbars of the stand are rebar, so if you damage it repair isn't difficult or expensive. It also doesn't require ordering parts. These targets are easy to move, especially compared to the E silhouette.

The E silhouette is great for close up, fast pistol work. It seems to keep both newer and seasoned shooters engaged. Swinging targets are fun, but one has to remember to let it stop swinging before taking the next shot, lest lead be spat back at you or a bystander.

I've had good luck with Mr. Target Online. Lots of different kinds of targets.  https://www.mrtargetonline.com.

The 50% size silhouette sets up easy and can take high volume rifle fire.  Works great for pistol as well.

I'll second the recommendation for https://hangfasttargets.com. I have several sizes of their targets, and have been quite happy with them. I particularly like their unique mounting bracket which allows the target to ring & swing when hit, but doesn't swing so much that you have to wait for it to stop before you can hit it again. It also places the target in front of the bracket & T-post, protecting both from misses & splatter.

If you're patient, they run sales a few times per year (Christmas, 4th of July, etc...). It's also a small business, which I have a soft spot for.
