Hi, I mounted the 1022 Tech-Sights and love them. But I now need to start using a scope because my eyesite isn't great, but I want to leave the tech-sights on. Should I just get something smithed or is there something available on the market to buy?

Since the tech sites use the back two holes the scope mount uses I think you will have to have something smithed if it will work at all.  I'm thinking the scope will be pushed too far forward if it clears the tech-sites.  A 10/22 generally require an extended rail like the EGW to get enough eye relief.

EGW is made in PA and even the packaging is made in the U.S.A.

I will put my tech site rifle beside my scoped rifle when I get home and see if it would clear.

Hopefully someone that has tried it will chime in.

not tech sights and it would require you to buy another sight set but Nodak spud makes a set up exactly like your talking.  it's got the nice rear sight that is attached to a rail.   I can't guarantee that it will allow you to get your scope far enough forward but it's the only product I know of on the market as you described it.

If you get a short enough scope, like the Nikon M-223 1-4x20, it should fit on the Nodak rail and give you enough eye relief. As a rule of thumb, you want the rear edge of the scope no farther back than the rear edge of the receiver. Most of the 3x9 and other wide-range variable scopes will be too long.

Tech-Sights has a new model, the Ruger 10/22 Rail sight. It clamps onto the OEM rail that comes with the rifle. TS claims it will co-witness with some low-profile red dots, but you want a real scope. I doubt it would co-witness with a scope, so if you want both to be functional you'll want see-through scope rings. Otherwise, even if both are mounted you'd have to remove the scope to use the irons.

You might find the TS work better with their optional aperture kit. The standard rear aperture is .062. We use .042 and it definitely sharpens the sight picture.

Hey, all, thanks for this. I was thinking I might get something smithed so not surprised. These are good options, though. This is the scope I purchased. A pretty basic, no-batteries-needed scope. I'm basically needing to start using a scope because my eyesite has always been cruddy. But if it's damaged, I want to be able to remove the scope and use the sights.

Any other thoughts for me?
