On this date in 1781, Patriot troops under Gen. Daniel Morgan decisively defeated British troops under Col. Banastre Tarleton at the Battle of Cowpens in South Carolina.

Also, coincidentally, Ben Frankin was born on this date in 1706.  Never fired a musket during the war, but was still a D.O.M. to the British. Ideas, the ultimate weapon.
