Ouch!  Thats the worst.  I've done that skeet/trap shooting before with my 12 ga.... a couple times.  Come back with a fat lip or two, lol.

I usualy have the opposite problem, since Im only 5'6", my arms arent always long enough for non pistol grip stocks.  There are a ton of aftermarket Mosin recoil pds though.  The one I heard the best reviews about was this one:
