The Importance of the Regional Boards

The forum revamp effort is partially geared toward getting Appleseeders better connected and active within their states.  Building strong state level programs, getting Appleseeders in the states, those who will be attending shoots together, working together to fill the firing lines.

We are getting many requests and questions from folks who participate in more than one state, who want access to more than one state.   This is good.

Each Appleseeder will be connected their state of residence, once they let us know which state that is.   This will open their state to them, to interact with the folks in their state.

If Appleseeders want to help in other states than their own, there is an avenue for that as well.   It is through the Regional Boards.

In the past, we could all interact in all the state boards.   With 3800+ members and adding 200+ new members each month, this was getting very messy in some states, having folks post/interact, with no intention/ability to actually help within that state.

So each state is now an independent board, with a focus on each state, the program and people of that state.

Understanding there are Appleseeders who participate across state lines, there are Appleseeders who have skills/resources to offer Appleseeders across state lines, there is a way for that to happen as well.

Now the place to interact with other states and to participate in states other than your own is on the Regional Boardshttp://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=collapse;c=9;sa=expand#9

Some of you will click the link above, and get a message telling you it is not available to you.   Well, you can fix this.

The Regional Boards are on the 'Working Level 1' (WL1) of the forum.   If you want to help in other states, participate in making Appleseed happen better across state lines, then you are a WL1 person.   The choice to be a WL1 member is YOURS, not Appleseeds.   If you want to help the program on this level, if you want to help the folks in other states to Appleseed better in their states, then the WL1 is where you want to be.

Like the Instructor's levels, where the individual chooses which level they achieve and work at, the same is the case for folks who want to help the Appleseed program.

If you just want to 'see' what is going on in other states, this is not an option available at this time.   Perhaps as we get the boards cleaned up, the forum more steamed lined/revamped, we can work on a way to make this possible.  There is just too much to do currently to design a more advance lurking system for folks.  Perhaps when we move the forum to a new forum hosting system, this will be more easily accomplished.

So take a look at this post:  http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=8632.0

If getting active and helping on this level appeals to you, let us know at the PM addresses provided in the post linked above.

A Rifleman, an Applerseeder is a Doer!  It is the fact there are hundreds, to thousands Appleseeders across the country, doing all they do to connect their fellow countrymen to the program which is driving the growth of Appleseed beyond imagination.   Making it easier for these Appleseeders to do what they do, is the goal of the forum revamp.    This process of restructuring the forum, and the restructure of the way Appleseeders participate, is going to take some time.   The more hands in the process, the more quickly the process will go.
