Twelve shooters joined us at JCSA this past weekend, some completely unaware of the Patriot's Day festivities ahead, others returning for their fourth event or more, all were excited to see what this Project Appleseed thing was all about. Efficiency was the theme of the weekend, shooters moved with enthusiasm and were excited to send rounds at the first Hits Count target of the weekend, though no shooters were able to achieve three hits on the smallest target. That would soon change, after we did some steady hold factor instruction and dry-fire practice, no sighter square group was larger than 6 MOA, and most shooters were already at our 4 MOA target. This set the tone for the rest of the event, as even shooters dealing with more frustrating sighting systems were still shooting impressive groups. The shooters absorbed more instruction of the different positions and timed AQT stages like a sponge, just as they were absorbing the chilly rainwater that was honestly quite miserable for everyone. Despite this, we still wrapped up everything we needed to on Saturday and ended right on schedule, and now with three shooters engaging the smallest hits count target, and one clearing the target completely!

Returning shooter Deb re-qualified on our one AQT Saturday with a 221 (this would start a streak of legitimately being unable to score lower than 210, she shot six AQTs, all of which were expert scores).

Returning Sunday the shooters were rewarded with much dryer conditions, and even sunshine in the afternoon! Moving with the same or better efficiency than the day before, we shot a few sighter squares (but knew after the first one that these shooters really didn't need much more assistance), and had an AQT and the Parker's Revenge team activity done before lunch. Well done 'misfires' for shooting the high score of 51/75. The Neos were full of spirit, but appropriate to the Matrix inspired name, Col Smith and his officers had an outline of rounds around them.

After a stirring memorial volley led by CaptainRebop, accompanied by cannon fire, we started the AQT grind proper. Deb continued her streak, shooting the high score for the weekend with a 231 (beating both CaptainRebop and my own scores, who both re-qualified while attempting the 'Flexington Militia Challenge'). Mike at his first event qualified with a score of 218. Reid re-qualified multiple times, with a high score of 225. First time Appleseeders Mike (218), Blake (214), and Thomas (220) all arrived together as friends and left as Riflemen.
