Riflemen and women:

I have slings from e-gunparts.com.  I need a swivel to connect the standard M1 1-1/4 inch sling to the a inch piece on the yugo.  Below are two pictures from someone else, but represent what I am trying to do.  I am not picky, I just need it to work.  I am thinking that this part

may work, but there is no picture.  Has anyone does this, or can anyone recommend a specific part to solve my problem?  The M1 sling attaches to the rear of the AKMS fine, I just need a good solution for the front.

Thank you

One model of the Yugoslavian SKS sling has exactly that connection:

You can cut it out of the SKS sling and use it with an M1 sling.  I have done this with several SKS's when these slings were in the $4 range.  Now they have gotten more expensive.

You may also be able to use a Cetme style hook.  This works on SKS' but I haven't tried it on an AK style.

Get some spare GI Spring hooks (from the M1 slings) from Numrich Gun Parts and thin down the hook section from 1 1/4" to 1" or 3/4" or what you need with a Dremel tool and a cut-off wheel.

Original suggestion came from Doug Bowsher in "Rifles of The White Death" on Finnish rifles and "Peace through Neutraility" on Swedish rifles.  He did this to hook up the smaller sling swivels on these rifles to standard US Loop slings for marksmanship work and to test their capability on known standards.

Thank you for the replies:

In the meantime I ordered this:

as I was on the site and was ordering an AR front sight adjusting tool. The sling was not really what I wanted, but for $6.00, the price was right and it only added two dollars to my shipping cost.

I may still try to find those clips and I never considered buying another sling just for the clip - I guess I fail that part of the IQ test.

The clips are available seperately, look under M1 Garand parts, "sling things".

If you can't find them, PM me and I'll dig up the part number.
