It is with a sad heart, and a head low in sorrow, I report to you that our friend, David Lebrun (navionpa) passed away on Tuesday.  He was a friend to Appleseed, and a good friend to many of us.  We will miss him very much.  He was brilliant beyond his years, and his grasp of history, and how we are slowly repeating it, was uncanny.  He was an engineer, and designed pumps, turbines, and associated items for use in hydroelectric dams. Even after his retirement, power companies from around the world consulted with him on designs.

He was truly a renaissance man.

David was the reason I got into Appleseed- I wanted to be as knowledgable as him, and not just knowledgable about shooting rifles. His grasp of history was uncanny.
I will miss him greatly.

Sadly I only met him a few times.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

Dave was a frequent teller of the tales during the Appleseed clinics at Quarryville. Dave was a strong nudger encouraging me to embrace the strikes while I was an Orange Hat.

It was my own insecurities on several levels (public speaking and history which was always a difficult subject... regardless of the topic).

Today... proudly tell the strikes at any given opportunity - thanks to him.

Yankee Peas

Dave was part of the crew that got me into Appleseed along with MrPainless WickedWorx and BBQ_Bandit.  When students would ask a history related question about April 19th, 1775, the quip would often quickly follow up, "Dave, you were there - what happened?" It always got a chuckle from the shooters and Dave himself. I heard an echo of that just two days ago and it reminded me of that. Good times.
"Yankee Peas" (British army term) - Buckshot. American troops, particularly militia, sometimes loaded their muskets with a few buckshot as well as a standard musket ball to inflict more casualties at close range.
