CMP just charged my card for a Garand, so what are good places to pick up clips, and any other recommended accessories? What should I be considering as an "essential"?

Should have bit the bullet and done this purchase years ago, but finally got there.

Clips, a sling. Tools to adjust the sights. Store it with the trigger guard unlatched a bit, it compresses the stock less. They had accessories in the butt if you want completeness. I have an adjustable gas plug somewhere for modern ammo, but I just shoot the old Greek ought six for now.

Ammogarrand is a great resource. Turner Saddle makes a nice 1907 sling. In my experience HXP ammo is ok and, if you find it in Spam cans, is in clips and bandoliers.  The brass is very good for reloading.  Some 2 round clips would be handy

ChuckA,

When looking for a resource for Garand stuff don't rule out the CMP itself. I admittedly have never bought online but my last trip to the store I bought a case of clips and more ammo than I am willing to admit. :)  They have slings, bayonets, ETC as well.

Keep an eye out for PPU/Privi Partizon M2 ball in the bulk ammo can. Decent ammo and good brass and usually cost less then surplus now.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

I'd really like to get a bayonet for mine... I picked up a cheap reproduction and it won't mount.
