It was a "cool" day in May for Arizona. The Seven Shooters arrived at Ben Avery, they were all Appleseed Volunteers. The first Pistol Clinic in AZ was on the agenda, followed by a Pistol IBC. The temperature started at a nice 60 degrees and would warm up to the 90's. We got the range set up as Shooters arrived. The day started with an amazing First Strike from Mike. The first hits count target showed great results. All Shooters got 4 hits in at least one Tombstone, 2 buttons were shot off and 2 Shooters cleared the Hits Count.

Pistol instructions started and Shooter took quickly to topics. Shooters took to the speed portion of the COF well. We moved through the exercises quickly. We slowed things down and checked the Shooters accuracy. The Shooters showed great results a d we progressed.

We took a lunch break and listened to the 2nd strike. The weather was getting warmer, but a breeze helped keep the Shooters cool.

After lunch the students learned about controlled pairs and transitioning between targets. A few rounds of practice and the Shooters were ready.

We posted the Pistol Qualification Test. We would fit 5 PQT's in for day. The Shooters showed their impressive skills. The first PQT over half of the shooters were close to 200 points. The low score for the day was 151 and the high score was 222.

3 Pistoleer™s earned their patch that day. The following day after the IBC we went back out to the range and one more Pistoleer™ patch was earned. Granted he used his wives, sparkling, purple Pistol to get his patch. The Pistol swap was due to lead build up in the compensator of his Pistol.

It was an amazing kick off the Appleseed Pistol Clinic program in Arizona. A huge thanks to Steve and Denise for coming out to help.

So what is Project Appleseed Business?  What would the Ghost of Project Appleseed say to us?

"Business!'" cried the Ghost of Project Appleseed, wringing its hands again.  "Liberty was my business; Heritage, History, Freedom, and Pursuit of Happiness, were, all, my business. The deals of Marksmanship were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!"
-Adapted from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.
