What a great weekend for liberty and marksmanship! There's always something special about Trail Life shoots, and this was no exception.

We started the weekend with a group of 10 eager shooters, a little weary from an early wake-up and long drive but ready to get started nonetheless. The hits count target Saturday morning showed lots of room for improvement, so we jumped right in. All the fathers and sons absorbed the instruction, itching for more. By the end of day 1 and with the first AQT in the books, no riflemen had revealed themselves but Luke was almost there with a 206.

Coming back remarkably refreshed for setting up and breaking down camp since we'd last seen them, our Trailmen were ready to get back to work. A quick refresh of the instruction from the day before and they set out to prove their new-found skills. By the end of day 2, Luke made it over the hump and finished the weekend with a 227. Joining him would be Jason with a 216 and Chris with a 212.

To all the shooters, well done. I saw tremendous improvement from each and every one of you throughout the weekend. If you didn't earn a patch this time, remember, a Rifleman persists. Dry fire, practice those transitions, study your guidebooks, and come back again.

As always, thank you to the Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club, a premier shooting sports destination in Central Florida.

Number one - Cody you look awfully good in that green hat!!

I love Trail Life events!  Congrats to all those who earned their Rifleman patch!

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
