5 Adult and 7 Youth Shooters arrived early to the City of Albuquerque Shooting Park on what was forecasted to be a Cold and Blustery day.  Thankfully the weather was better than forecasted and the snow/rain and wind stayed away.  The day started with History and a Safety Brief the off to the Firing line to shoot Red Coats.  The Marksmanship instruction followed, and the morning was off to what felt like a slow start.  Some Squares and the Inches, Minute, and Clicks block of instruction later the Time Monkey had lost its way, and the event was ahead of time.  The shooters helped keep us on time by being early and being efficient in going down to check targets.  We took a break for Lunch and some more History. Then back to instruction to learn the Shooting Positions.  By the end of Saturday, the students had learn all the shooting positions, how to Transitions, and Magazine changes.  We got one AQT in on Saturday which is an accomplishment at this range as you canst start shooting until 9 am and need to be clear of the range by 4:30.

Sunday's forecast had rain and snow in the Afternoon. Shooters were early, we were ready to shoot before 9 am.  Which allowed for some stories of some Dangerous Old Men and Dangerous Dames.  Since we covered all the blocks of instruction, we shot a Red Coat and a couple of Squares to confirm the rifles were sighted in.  We started the shooting the Appleseed Qualification Test. Shooters showed improvements on their scores in the morning.  They all had a great attitude through out the weekend.  At the end of the day, we had 3 Students Earn their Rifleman Patch, and 2 Re-Qualifications.

We appreciate the City of Albuquerque Shooting Park in partnering with Project Appleseed and letting us host events at the range.  One shooter left a glowing review of the event, it can be read here: https://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=68872

Sufficient speed, Acceptable drag.

So what is Project Appleseed Business?  What would the Ghost of Project Appleseed say to us?

"Business!'" cried the Ghost of Project Appleseed, wringing its hands again.  "Liberty was my business; Heritage, History, Freedom, and Pursuit of Happiness, were, all, my business. The deals of Marksmanship were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!"
-Adapted from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.

Nice Job!  Congrats to all who earned their Rifleman patch -- it's great to see all the kids!!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

Congratulations to everyone!  You worked hard and it certainly shows in your results. And what a great group of Young Patriots!  You are our future, guys. And you're off to a great start.
