On Thursday 12 September, I had an occupational therapy session at the VA. While there the therapist was making the standard small talk and asked if I had any plans for the weekend. I mentioned that Friday morning I would be presenting Revolutionary War history at Marion Military Institute. This piqued her interest, and a little more discussion led to me telling the first strike while she applied the Ultrasound, E-Stem, and other therapeutic treatments. At the end of that session, she said there are two more treatments scheduled and she wanted to hear the second and third strike. Well, the second session was yesterday. I had not even sat down yet when she said OK, I'm ready for part two. You just never know when the opportunity will present itself.

Unplanned Seventh Stepping can happen... unexpectedly!  I've had two notable events.

One, I was catching up with a friend over a hamburger at In-N-Out. As we were leaving another guest all but ran and tackled me.  He had seen my Appleseed tee shirt as I was leaving and wanted to know more about where I got it.  I got him to pull out his phone and look at the schedule map website.

Another was when I had an exterminator come to the house to give a quote for yearly maintenance service. It was Monday just after a shoot. I had a pile of Appleseed stuff on the garage floor, shooting matts, training rifles, targets... etc.   He asked me something I hadn't heard before.  "Appleseed, isn't that a 22 thing for kids?"  Ohh man, did he get and earful!

We sat and talked over his service quote for about 5 minutes, then spent 30 minutes discussing shooting. Turns out he worked in a local gun store on the weekends and had heard about Appleseed from customers.  He left with a bunch of tri-folds for the store and a short stack of targets.  He promised to accept my challenge of putting 5 rounds in a square unsupported from 25 meters. He's now my bug guy and I expect to see him / his kids on the line with me this fall.

I guess my advice is to have an elevator pitch  in your head, I like to ask them if they can put 5 in a once inch square.
"...why are there 30 caliber holes in my target, Bryan?"

While wearing my Rifleman cap while on a business trip to California I had 2 people ask about the program in the Sacramento airport. Ya just never know!
