I want to thank the participants for spending the weekend with us instead of a lot of other options out there.  It was an honor to spend time with you.  I also want to thank the Isaac Walton League, Diana Chapter of Shelby for allowing us to use the range.  <Dagny and RJD Sr for setting up and tearing down>  A huge THANK YOU to the crew (Captain America, Hemi286, JHB, AGT, Myrradah, and Kanoa) that put on the event and made my task easy.

We had some great weather over the weekend.  Some of the best fall weather a shoot boss could order.  After a riveting First Strike on Saturday morning, everyone understood why were we able to assemble. <our founding fathers>  Our first Hits Count target showed we had a lot of room for improvement.  On the line we had a good assortment of equipment.  Factory sights on a 10/22, red dot optics, to a left-eye dominant shooter with a right-handed bolt-action.  Good stuff for sure.  We opened the fountain of knowledge at full fire-hose levels.  Our first AQT showed good promise after several squares and sight adjustments.  Our last target on Saturday was a Hits Count with 4 hitting the shingle and 2 clearing it.  What a great way to finish the day.

Sunday started with some drizzle.  We retreated to the canopies for reviews.  Once we recapped all of our items from Saturday, the sky cleared up and we got back to shooting.  Our first Hits Count target indicated we had some sights move over night.  Too much cleaning and moving of things after going home.  On the bright side, correct eye relief would equate less pain after another day of shooting.  With the great knowledge of IMC, the shooters were able to move the PointofImpact to match the PointofAim.  Our first AQT on Sunday yielded 2 new Riflemen.  Both Jamie and Alex were first-time Appleseeders.  Congrats on the impressive 218 and 224 respectively.  As Sunday progressed, the scores continued to impress.  Both Jamie and Alex continued to turn in Rifleman scores and came close to hitting distinguished.  Participant Jim was up for a good challenge and borrowed an AK-22 training rifle for Sunday.  By the end of the day, it looked like a real battle rifle as it was biting him in the fight for freedom.  He did manage to turn in a 210 as a requal with it.  What a great attitude and persisting through the day.  Our biggest improvement for the weekend came from our youngest participant.  Eli started the weekend with no hits on the first Hits Count target and ended with a 131 on his last AQT.  He also was awarded a William Diamond patch.

For those that did not make our magical 210 or better this weekend, remember, 4 or more events for the average participant to achieve such a feat.  Dry-fire is the cheapest way to develop the needed muscle memory for this.  Do your rifleman's yoga.  It has been said these are not natural positions we use for shooting.  Once you learn to get into position comfortably, NPOA will be something you learn 'just happens'.

Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy
