Newberry SC 03-24 IBC AAR

A Rifle Instructor Boot Camp was held in Newberry, SC on March 2-3, 2024 at the Newberry Pistol Club (https://www.newberrypistolclub.org/about).
We began promptly at 8 am on Saturday with registration and introductions. Classroom time and small group instruction and practice followed. No live fire was included. Mission, Guidelines, and Instructor attributes were discussed.  The 25M Course of Fire was analyzed. We broke up into groups of three to practice the skills the instructors demonstrated. By the end of the day, we had practiced all the Verbatim Material, IMC and position demonstrations. We finished about 5:30. Dinner at a local smokehouse followed.

Sunday we again began at 8:00. We learned how to use the ancient heater so Sunday was more pleasant in the clubhouse. After a review of the verbatim material, IMC and positions we were at Lunch. Three-minute history presentations followed. SweetCarolyn nailed her time at 3:00. Everyone else was able to complete the task in under five minutes. The topics were South Carolina-related or Women's History. We covered working with students on the line. The Line Error Card drill followed. This is always the highlight of the IBC. This time was no exception. Some of the errors are difficult, especially if you don't stick to the triage process.

After the final exam, Bootcamp Rockers were presented to those completing the IBC. DEH, TAZDevil, macsr, TheIronMantis, from South Carolina attended. JC/DC, CodyClemonade, and SweetCarolyn joined us from Florida. Peter Francisco was unable to return Sunday because duty called. The instructors were TheMenace and ScubaSteve, both from Florida.

Thank you all for joining us for the weekend. Special thank you to our host TAZDevil and the Newberry Pistol Club for allowing us to use their clubhouse all weekend. It was an outstanding event!

A superb event all the way around. Man, for a Florida guy that classroom was cold on Saturday. I was very happy to get up and moving when we started the demos. Thanks to our hosts for making it happen!
