Thank you to the patriots who joined us on the range in Lapeer for our annual Winterseed event last weekend. I think I speak for the rest of the Appleseed crew when I say it was an absolute pleasure having you on the line with us.  And thank you as always to Lapeer County Sportsman's Club for hosting Project Appleseed.

Congratulations to Michigan's newest rifleman, Corey C!  I forgot to write down your forum name, Corey - but I hope you'll chime in here.

I believe this was Corey's sixth Appleseed shoot - a Rifleman persists!  I admire you for always bringing friends and family out with you.  I hope I have the opportunity to work with your daughter(s) this season - perhaps we'll see you at the Patriot's Day shoot in Fenton.

Kevin, bud - great progress over the weekend - 202, you are knocking on the door now!  Reach out to me if you line up another event this year, as I'd like to be there when you earn your patch.

Reagan and Drew - fantastic having you guys out. Amazing job for first time Appleseeders.  Drew I know you had to overcome a lot of equipment challenges, but you are also well within range of hitting 210 at your next event, so I hope you can find an opportunity to come back out with us.  Reagan, you did a great job - super safe and super attentive - everything we admire in a youth shooter. We're glad you could join us.

Scuba Al was back on the line, still shooting Distinguished scores!  Always a pleasure, bud - we look forward to seeing you at our Rimfire KD event in Plymouth next month.

Thomas - I'm glad we got the opportunity to work together again.  I believe we have an Orange Hat waiting for you when you crack that 210 - you will get there, bud.  We really appreciate you stopping down to the range on Friday and offering to help set up, and of course thank you for the AM breakfast deliveries. Those 3D-printed sling attachment 'barrel bands' you created for the 10/22 are rather ingenious - I look forward to deploying those in the field this year.

Garrett and Henry - really glad you guys could join us on Sunday - nice shooting from both of you, and thanks for lending a hand with teardown/cleanup.

Roundballer - thank you for coming out and bringing our history to life!  Always fun to have you, and I know our new shooters appreciated the opportunity to experience the Brown Bess.

Last but not least, thanks to our awesome cadre of volunteers - Rangerat67, TL, PocketWatch, Bogie and Number6 - it was nice to get back out on the range with you guys.

Such a great event! Fun shooters all around. Thank you all for coming out. It's been a minute since I got to work an event, so I'm glad I made it out to this one!

I posted a ton of pics in that link from T. WOLF so check them out.

Congrats to all of the Riflemen! Corey, Scuba, Garrett! Everyone did awesome this weekend! Great progress and hopefully you guys had as much fun as I did.  :F

I hope to see each of you on the line again! Keep your powder dry friends!

What a great event! Congratulations to our new riflemen, and those who requalified. Corey, congrats! The perseverance paid off (funny how it usually does) :) . Scuba, that 250 is going to happen for you, and I hope I'm there to witness it. Garrett fine performance from you as well sir.

Kevin, I hope you keep coming back. You made great progress over the course of the weekend and you're right there! Keeping working those fundamentals, squeeeeeeeze that trigger. The patch will be yours.

Thomas, you're right there, it's gonna happen. Work on the cheek weld, an inconsistent check weld is one of those things that a scope can cover up at 25m... but that's just not the case with iron sights. Persistence pays, and you'll look good in an orange hat when it does. And of course, thank you for breakfast. That was very generous, and greatly appreciated.

Drew, What an attitude!!! To say you were having some equipment issues is a bit of an understatement. Many in your position would have gotten visibly frustrated, but you wore a smile all weekend, stuck with it, absorbed a ton of instruction, and made great progress despite the challenges. That's the stuff riflemen are made of.

Reagan, I'll echo what T-Wolf said, safe and attentive is what we love to see in our youth shooters, and that is exactly what you were. You had some fine groups that you put up as well. Stay on your dad to bring you back, and I have no doubt we'll see you holding a patch sooner than later.  :snipersmi

I had a great time working this event, and I want to thank each of you for that.

Spread the word, bring a friend... the country NEEDS you!

Looking forward to seeing all of you on the line again down the Appleseed trail.

To all of the Project Appleseed instructors/volunteers, Thank You for your instruction, wisdom, love of our nation and its heritage. Your passion driven purpose is partly responsible for my own perseverance and ambitions in marksmanship. I hope to continue attending events and honing my history and skills, perhaps someday requesting an orange hat when my schedule permits. Thanks again to Lapeer Sportsmans club for hosting. Hope to see you all again soon!

I AM THE FLAG

I am your Flag. I was born on June 14th, 1777. I am more than just a cloth shaped into a design. I am the refuge of the world's oppressed people. I am the silent sentinel of freedom; I am the emblem of the greatest sovereign nation on earth. I am the inspiration for which American Patriots gave their lives and fortunes. I have led your Sons into battle from Valley Forge through the dark days after the sinking of the Maine, through the bloody days of Chateau Thierry and Belleau Woods, over the far reaches of the Sands of Iwo Jima, Leyte, Africa--the mud and snow of Italy and Germany, to the bloody ridges of Korea and Viet Nam. I walk in silence with each of your honored dead to the final resting place beneath the silent white crosses, row upon row. I have flown through peace and war, strife and prosperity, and midst it all, I have been respected.

My red stripes symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this glorious Nation; my white stripes signify the burning tears shed by Americans who lost their sons, husbands, and daughters; my blue field is indicative of God's Heaven under Which I fly; and my stars, clustered together, unify fifty States as one--for God and Country.

OLD GLORY is my name, and proudly I wave on high. Honor me. Respect me. Defend me with your lives and your fortunes. Never let my enemies tear me down from my lofty position lest I never return.

Keep alight the fires of patriotism. Strive earnestly for the spirit of our constitutional republic; worship Eternal God and keep His Commandments; and I shall remain the bulwark of peace and freedom for all mankind. For I am your flag
