A great day as always at The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in Canton, GA. Thank you to Sheriff Frank Reynolds and the CCSO. We had 11 Trailmen and 5 Adult leaders show up to hear the Story of April 19, 1775. We began the event with the First Strike of the Match as told by Captain John Parker. After the Safety briefing we then retrieved rifles and hit the line. The morning redcoat target showed we had some work to do, so we got down to it.

Eye dominance test --> Sling Use --> 6 Steps of Firing the Shot --> Natural Point of Aim (NPOA) --> Prone Position --> Prone position exercise and rifle fitting --> Dry-fire Trigger exercise --> Shoot some squares!  :---  We then went to the classroom for a well earned lunch.

At Lunch we heard the Second Strike of the Match and also Talking Targets. We cleaned up and hit the line for some more squares. Then we learned Inches, Minutes, and Clicks (IMC) and shot a square to use what we learned. Next up was a combined drill of Rifleman's Cadence and Carding the Sights. We then mixed it up with some Magazine changes before going inside for the Third Strike of the Match.

Refreshed we went back out and learned transitioning to prone. as Stage 3 of the Appleseed Qualification Test(AQT) was brought out. We then learned not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 new seated positions. Having picked out the most least uncomfortable seated position, we learned transition to seated, before tying it all together on Stage 2 of the AQT. We then learned our last position, standing, before using it on Stage 1 of the AQT. Lastly, we slowed things down with Stage 4 of the AQT, the money stage.

When the white smoke of hundreds of .22s cleared, we saw we had a man amongst us that knew what he was about. Adule leader Joe got a 218! Well done sir!  O0 We went inside for a Rifleman patch presentation for Joe and William Diamond patches for all the young patriots. And we heard the story of Timothy Murphy and how one person can make a difference. The last target of the day was another Redcoat target which showed marked improvement, despite everyone being exhausted.

I can't wait to do it again! The rest of you have what it takes. Keep up the perfect practice and remember that a Rifleman persists. Hope to see you soon (with more friends and family)!
