The group of shooters and instructors at the Appleseed Pistol Clinic held at the Marlette Sportsmen's Association in Kingston MI on July 15-16th are the embodiment of patriots.  They worked hard to improve their marksmanship and absorbed the history.  The student's attentiveness, attitude, and perseverance make events like these a great experience for all in attendance.  The instructors, Superheat and Mr. Zeke, presented fascinating and moving history stories about the founding of the United States of America.

The event started off with the threat of thunderstorms but all we received was light rain.  The morning safety briefing was taken to heart as this group was exceptional with following the four safety rules and making safe pistols.  The marksmanship instruction began, and the shooters practiced with dry and live fire.

The story of April 19th was presented throughout the day.  Who can forget Superheat's ending of the "Second Strike" as the Acton Minute Men slowly marched back in town to the home of Hanna and Isaac Davis.  Mr. Zeke concluded with the "Third Strike" and the Revolutionary War was on!

The marksmanship instruction and history continued on Sunday.  Congratulations to Josh as he earned a Pistoleer™ Patch on the third PQT of the weekend with a 214.  Josh followed that up with a 223!

George was next with a 172, followed closely by Dave and Earl with a 168 and 166.  Family competitions are always fun to watch, and Alex went home with bragging rights, narrowly achieving a higher score than Rob (Father-in-Law) and Cam (Brother-In-Law.)

Congratulations to Josh for winning the "Know Your Limits" and the Texas Star fun shoots.  Josh had the fasted time on the Texas Star despite having the star in motion before he began shooting!

Earning a patch is not easy and a relatively small percentage of students reach this milestone, especially when attending their first event.  What is easy at an Appleseed event is enjoying the history.  Dave (Pocketwatch) presented the story of Samuel Whittemore while Mr. Zeke presented the story of Samuel Colt and Samuel Walker.  Superheat concluded with the story of James Hayward and his sacrifice that ended after an encounter with a red coat at a well on Fiske Hill.

It was a great event!  The shooters stood in the mud and persevered through dampness and mosquitoes and as the event came to a close, exhaustion, both physically and mentally, was evident as these shooters and instructors gave their all throughout the weekend.

It was great to spend the weekend with all of you and I look forward to seeing each student at a future event!

Without pictures, we do not have any proof!

Thanks to the instructors who gave up their weekend to make us better pistol shooters and better citizens. I may not have patched but I did get to the point of noticing some errors and ways to improve. Thanks to the shooters for the camaraderie and support.

MrZeke

I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend than with fellow shooters/patriots (minus the mosquitoes).

Rifleman (and Pistoleer™s) persist, you each showed growth and improvement in the 2 short days we had.
I look forward to seeing you all again on our lines.

Congratulations Josh!
Thanks to everyone who attended, it was a wonderful weekend.
Also, Thanks Rangerat for running another great event.  Neither rain, mud, mosquitoes or illness will stop him.  Huzzah!
