The thing the sticks out in my mind about this KD is HOT.

But at least it wasn't as hot as we'd expected. Well that is if 101 wasn't bad as I'd expected 105 and above. I'd kind of expected maybe at least one person cancelling but all 4 of the preregs showed up.

Saturday hit 101 but at least there was a bit of a breeze and the humidity was about 40% so it was tolerable. We all decided we'd start early on Sunday at 7:30, skip lunch, and knock off early. Good call. Sunday was pretty bad. Not much of a breeze and the humidity was high. But being riflemen we persisted. And by 1PM we were done. Well done. Stick a fork in it.

Everybody shot expert that showed up. However Charlie decided to shoot using a bipod. He was more interested in his equipment than getting a patch. And he had some awesome groups. His last AQT was one of the best I've seen. I'm not going to say it was just since he was using a bipod as on Saturday his groups weren't anything to get excited about. Once we figured out his trigger control was holding him back and worked with him his groups tightened up substantially. And you've got to give it to Charlie as he's 75 years old and kept up with the rest of us. It helps that he hikes and works out several times a week. I hope I'm in that good of shape when I hit 75.

Marc came down from Tennessee to visit with us. Hadn't done a KD before and shoot around a 220 or thereabouts.

Dmitry got expert. This was his second KD.

Lamar shot expert - this being his first KD.

And we got 3 out of 4 shooters hitting Morgan's Shingle.

I'll have to say that everybody persisted in spite of the heat.

I looked like a lobster by the end of the weekend. Prob didn't help that I'd been out hiking twice that week before the event. I don't normally get that red after two days out in the sun. Heck everybody was a bit red and burnt. Not much chance of getting in the shade doing a KD.

HOT is an understatement, the only salvation was the breeze and low humidity on Saturday. I was impressed that all 4 shooters that signed up, showed up. I was even more impressed with the improvement from Saturday morning until the end. Says a lot that 3 shooters changed to zero in another rifle for the last AQT on Sunday as they had already patched.
