A truly great weekend!

We had a sold-out shoot at Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club in Palm Bay, FL:  Fifteen shooters, 11 instructors and our local Blue Hat. We all sweated together (temps in the 90s), got soaked together (a downpour so fierce that we had to cease fire and IAO). We were under the cover of an enormous aluminum awning. but that doesn't help much when the rain is horizontal.  We lost one shooter because of it, an older fellow who was literally soaked to the skin. He picked up his rifle and water ran out of the barrel. Welcome to sunny Florida!

Louie Louie completed his PC3. And SweetCarolyn switched hats from blue to orange. And one of our shooters vowed to keep coming back until he can shoot a Rifleman's score, and the take an orange hat!

We had a LOT of new shooters. One we were particularly proud of -- Christina. She had never handled a gun before, and by the end of the day Sunday, had shot a respectable 160 on the AQT! We also had two very well-behaved youths who are on the road to Rifleman.

We've been doing shoots in Palm Bay for, I think, 12 years. Most of the members of our original cadre assembled for this shoot. Just like old times.

A good time was had by all (well, maybe not the fellow who got soaked and left).

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.
