Ahhh - The smell of wood smoke filled the air and intermingled with that other familiar smoke at an Appleseed - Gunpowder!

There's something about a Winterseed-Gone-Bad at Good Ole' Bay 7 that makes a beautiful spring-like weekend at Clinton County Farmers' and Sportsman's Association in Wilmington, OH worth the failed attempt. Sure it was a bit chilly on Saturday and a little breezy on Sunday but we'll take it! With all due respect to the many souls who have earned an icy blue patch this time of year you can keep 'em. We'll enjoy a beyond perfect weekend any and every time.

Six shooters were brave enough to sign up and take the chance on Mother Nature's winter fury for an unforgettable, glorious experience. I'm certain the other thousand people who just didn't have the fortitude to chance it regretted their decision to stay home once the sun started shining and the birds started singing!

And what a group we had! Everyone buckled down bright and early to soak up the fantastic instruction laid down by our RWVA Instructor Corp that included three new orange hats making their first foray into the world of Appleseed instructing. Kudos and many thanks to Octopus, ChefRedCoat76, and RedNine for stepping up!

On the line we had Joe and Storm making it count with iron sight center-fires. Mark was trying it out for his first time and a trio of Riflemen; Will, Bryan, and Allisa, got down and dirty trying to re-qualify. Everyone was a pleasure to work with from the first safety lesson all the way to the final Redcoat which, by the way, was cleared by Allisa in convincing fashion.

We had marvelous history by Longrifleman, RedLeg, and Owl1. Excellent instruction and demos from everyone. All capped off with some great shooting and even better learning. When all the smoke finally cleared Bryan re-qualified a couple of times over along with Will both with a highs of 215.

Once again many, many thanks to all our shooters for their attention to safety and teachable attitudes, to all our instructors for their dedication and skill, and most of all, to CCFSA for their hospitality and for the use of Good Ole Bay 7. We love you guys!

Thanks for hosting another great and well-oiled machine of a shoot. I enjoyed performing the RSO and LB duties. Looking forward to doing it again Patriot's Day weekend. Huzzah!

A couple days late but, as promised, here are some photos of an amazing Appleseed weekend! Congrats to the shooters who re-qualified and cleared Redcoats! For those who are still aiming towards that patch, remember that a Rifleman is PERSISTENT!
