Winterset, Iowa, AAR - October 29-30, 2022

[Appleseed Dad]

We had a fantastic shoot in Winterset, Iowa. The weather was perfect - mid 60's on both Saturday and Sunday with very little wind.

Congratulations to Chris for scoring distinguished with a 234 with irons, and to Jim for scoring rifleman with a 232 (on a scoped bolt-gun no less!)  Several others were knocking at the door, and I am certain with a little more practice in the off-season you will earn that coveted Rifleman patch at a future event!

We had 5 cleared Redcoat targets this weekend - Huzzah!!!

Our youth shooters: Moses, David, Weston, and Noah were some of the most conscientious young people I have seen on the line at an Appleseed.  Their muzzle control and attention to safety was highly commendable, as was their attention during blocks of instruction.  Well done, you are fine young men!

Thanks to Daniel, John, Levi, Randy, Chris, Ari, Joe, Will, Jim, and Mark for choosing to spend a beautiful weekend with us - there were countless other things you could have chosen to do.  It was an honor to work with you this weekend.

Many thanks to the Madison County Sportsmen's club for generously hosting us on their wonderful range and allowing us to use the clubhouse for portions of the instruction.  That has been a staple for Appleseed over the years.

For those that attended as shooters: this is probably the only Appleseed you will ever attend where there are two state Coordinators (Mike - Iowa, and Bob - South Dakota) working the shoot together both days!

Finally, a special thank-you to our crew that turned up for this shoot: Mike, Bob, Bryce, Joe, Steven, Ashlyn, Shane, Melody, Josh, Abbie, and Seth.  I am humbled by your dedication, professionalism, and skill!  To those of you that call me Dad, I am so proud of you!
