This event was sold out early; April, I believe. And we even managed to work in a walk-on, in addition. These shooters were serious and dedicated.

Good weather prevailed both days. Saturday began in the clubhouse with the history of Ephraim Brank, followed by IMC, trajectories, a study of wind, and safety material.
After moving to the range, with a fixed firing line, rifles were zeroed and an AQT stage was engaged, sequentially, at each hundred yard line. Ethan Allen was presented at lunch. Two shooters qualified for the Rifleman' Score. Congratulations N. B. and Don.

Sunday began in the clubhouse with presentations of King's Mountain, target detection and ranging, shooting on an angle, and environmental factors. Then it was back to the range for range estimation, and then, Morgan's Shingle. Four shooters earned the Shingle Patch, and one of them received a Gold Star for shooting it standing with an M1A. Congratulations to, John, Steve, N. B., and especially Mike. The history of the Forage Wars was presented at lunch.

Then it was back to AQTs, and the results were gratifying. Two more shooters qualified for Riflemen; John and Jacob, and in addition, Don earned the Distinguished Patch.

The Henry County Gun Club has always been very supportive of Appleseed and we are grateful for that. And several shooters commented on the beauty of the 600 yard range

It was a rare treat to participate in the Puryear, TN, Known Distance Appleseed shoot this past weekend with so many Master Instructors giving their best to our group of novice shooters. Dond, Google, and Maximum Ordinate did a superb job in imparting critical information and tips in what it took to improve our scores. Backed up by Instructors Captain and Army Vet, we were in excellent hands all weekend. As usual in any Appleseed shoot, we were immersed in American Revolution and War of 1812 history which put the importance of marksmanship in perspective. We are indebted to these instructors for the splendid job they did in giving us the proper mindset in order to absorb their instruction. We were mostly an organized group from Memphis and we had high esprit de corps and our camaraderie made the event even more fun. The shooting scores progressively got better and we owe that to these incredibly proficient instructors. Looking forward to more Appleseed events!

This group of shooters was a lot of fun . . . everyone working hard to improve but having a good time. This was my first KD in Tennessee and I hope it won't be my last. Great range, great town nearby (Murray) and great group of people!

I got the opportunity to participate in the KD in Puryear after someone dropped out.  I am glad that I decided to go.  This was the first time I've ever shot past 100 yards in my life.   I was happy that I was able to get hits on target at all the distances.   I just have a lot of work to do to become more consistent.

A big thank you to all of the instructors for taking the time to do this event so far away from your homes.  It was a great learning experience.  Again thanks for taking the time and for all of the one on one coaching and advice.   Our crew was really Blessed to have such a great shoot boss and crew running the show.   Whoever ordered in the beautiful weather did a great job there as well!  Maybe next year just a little cooler would be nice.   ;D

I have already ordered a new scope and will be working on tighter groups at 100 yards and verifying my equipment.  Next year I really want to hit that shingle!

This was a great event.  A big thank you to DonD, Google, Maximum Ordnance and crew.  The instruction was outstanding.   I learned so much about ranging, collecting dope data, ballistics and more.  DonD also explained milliradians, which up until then I didn't understand.

The shooting started with a session of zeroing rifles.  I learned that off the bench zero was different from my looped up sling zero.  We then moved to each distance gathering dope on our rifle and ammo.

We shot a cold bore Morgan's Shingle.  I was honored to be among the guys who hit the shingle.  I finished up the weekend with a 39.  I always had one disappointing stage that kept me from 40.  It was always a different stage. My enthusiasm was peaked for another KD.
