A great group of Appleseeders came out to the Monticello Sportsman's Club this weekend to embrace our American heritage of Liberty and rifle marksmanship. The weather may have been cold in the mornings, but it was darn near perfect by Sunday afternoon. By the end of the weekend, tremendous progress was made by all the shooters. There were several new Rifleman Patches earned and several shooters who brushed off the rust and requalified. We also had several shooters clear the challenging Redcoat target over the course of the weekend! More details to follow, but I thought I'd start with a quick group picture we managed to capture on Day 2.

More pictures to come as I get caught up!

Thank you, participants for coming out to our event.  Thank you for braving the below freezing temperatures in the morning to the above 50 in the afternoons and for putting up with a little bit of mud :)

I've put the photos I took up in an album here:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/FkAfK3i66xsvNBzW7

(note: the one picture is of the range used just 1 week before the event - to have it melt enough and thaw enough to drive t-posts in was unexpected)

Congrats to the new rifleman, to those who requalified, to those who cleared the Redcoat target, and most importantly to those who persisted throughout the weekend.  Huzzah!

Thank you, instructors, for coming out and supporting the event.

I look forward to seeing all of you at future events.

Thanks to Captian, ProudPapa14, and all the other excellent instructors that helped out on this weekend.  I had a great time and learned a ton about marksmanship and history.

Per Captian's advice, I've taken my weekly action on advancing the cause of liberty and I've signed up my son to come with me to the June event.  Look forward to seeing some of you folks again and meeting new ones!

Thanks again!

Hey Joe, glad you were able to come out and even happier to hear you'll be returning with your son. That's the best recommendation we could have!

Here are some more photos. Most of our instruction was out on the range but we also had the clubhouse available for lunch and some stories from April 19th, 1775.

Most of the morning, shooters and instructors worked on learning the fundamentals of precision marksmanship while shooting prone - position, firing the shot and natural point of aim. Here's some of the shooter's working on shooting from the standing position.

Congratulations to the cadre and students for a great event.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all April 23/24.

Finally, pictures of those who cleared the Red Coat and those who scored expert - Riflemen. Nice job everyone and welcome Dave who has decided to take a hat!

Thanks again to all the instructors from this event - a few weeks later and with a little more practice I'm clearing the redcoat target.  Can't wait for the next shoot to make it official!
