Does anyone know if magazines for a Marlin 25N will work in a 795?

Have a student who needs to borrow extra mags for his 795. I have several for a 25N, which look identical to the 795 mags. Just want to make sure they fit before I offer to loan them out.

If Marlin ( Ruger) doesn't bring back the 795 they need to buy all the mags they want now from what is available.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

It's not what you ask, but I know the mags for the Marlin 925R will fit the 795.  The default mag for the 925 is a 7-rounder, but they both accept either.  The 925 was basically a bolt action version of the 795, which they dropped when they introduced the XT.

The old black 7 round magazines for the 25N will NOT fit in a 795.  The newer silver 10 round magazines will work in either rifle. 

It sounds like Marlin made newer 7 round magazines that do work in the 795, so I am not saying for certain that 7 round mags won't work.  But I can definitely say with certainty that the old 25N 7 round magazines I own--several of them--do not load into the 795 at all.  I just double checked to verify my recollection on this, so I'm not speculating.  :)

Good Morning.

OhioPiper put me onto the americanrifle magazines website as a source for the Marlin 795 mags. I can confirm that they work. I just purchased two of them a few weeks ago for my loaner 795's. They both ran very well this past weekend.

I purchased several of the American Rifle magazines last year. They work great.
I don't always shoot AQT's, but when I do, I prefer iron sights.

I'm probably preaching to the choir, but this is why my rule of thumb is 10 magazines minimum per firearm.  One never knows when magazines will no longer be available.
