Harrisville, PA KD July 24, 2021

The sound of Liberty echoed through the countryside around Harrisville, even through a torrential downpour!  Thanks to Clinton-Irwin Rod & Gun Club for allowing us to use their rifle range and clubhouse.  The 600-yard rifle range is a great venue for a Known Distance event.

Thanks to Deck Ape for getting us off to a great start with coffee and donuts!  Charles McKinley reviewed marksmanship fundamentals, gave the safety briefing, and covered subjects we would be using on the line later, such as Inches/Minutes/Clicks, Come-ups, Battle Sight Zero and doping the wind.  Then it was off to the firing line to begin checking zeroes at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.

Thanks to bcurfman for driving the Target Line Taxi all day!  It saved a lot of time on the frequent trips downrange, which were multiplied by the fact that we were shooting in two relays.  Dealing with a couple of equipment malfunctions also slowed the pace (thanks to Precession for taking the initiative on dealing with that) , so that we broke for lunch before we had collected dope at 400 yards.  After lunch and a Range Estimation exercise, we finished up at 400 yards and were ready to shoot some AQTs!

So of course, Murphy's Law being what it is, that is when the heavens opened up and tried to drown us!  But our intrepid patriots persisted through the rainfall to complete the first AQT of the day.  Then the skies cleared, so we shot a few more!  By the end of the day Mark and Precession had earned their KD patches, "high score" honors going to Precession with an impressive 50/50!  Also, many thanks to Mike for volunteering to help promote Liberty by taking an Orange Hat.  "Many hands make light work", and we're happy to welcome Mike to the PA instructor cadre!

It was a great day rain and all!  Maybe we can work out a system to make it go faster or organize a way that the club is shooting on the clays field on top of the hill so we can shoot on the Rifle Range on Sunday as well.
