This was the weekend Appleseed after the bootcamp. After the boot-campers enjoyed a week of nice weather, it got nasty on the Appleseeders. Saturday was chilly and WINDY. Dust was everywhere. It was a good lesson in perserverance. Sunday was just plain cold, but slightly less windy. Despite the weather, we had a good group out on the line. There was a fantastic instuctor/shooter which allowed for constant 1on1 instruction. Everyone's marksmanship improved, and we ended up with 3 new riflemen out of the weekend Appleseed alone. I didn't make it out to the bootcamp, so I can't speak for them, but I did enjoy the company of all the boot-campers. I look forward to seeing everyone again, further down the Appleseed trail.
Here are some pictures to enjoy:

The line on Sunday:

Man, those targets are hard to see.
One of our new riflemen, at his first Appleseed no less.

Two more notes of mine:
*Only one centerfire on the line Saturday. LTR's are taking over...
*When going through introductions on Saturday morning, everyone was there because they heard about Appleseed through word of mouth. So, keep talking.

I have yet put into words what this meant to us .....I spent each night thinking what could words say that we all felt about how the time spent in a dusty wind blown bowl of texas meant to us .Then I found a picture that was taken the day of the Appleseed !!!!!!!And at this point it is truley blessed..The ole man looked down on us and said good job brothers and sisters good job.....I will jump on my stump speech later but had to share this now before the AAR beatings get started ..THANK YOU SCOUT your a man among men sir...More to follow later..

You said it all right there. The shooting and learning was top notch. The three strikes, man, I love that story and the different way each person tells it. But best of all: The shooters. That is the icing on the cake, the people that you meet at an appleseed. I met more truly good Americans in one week than I have met in the last 10 years.

And dang I love that picture oldgrunt, it's like a sign from heaven. We are on the right track, eh?

And no, I didn't get the patch, I only got 200 on my best AQT, but I'll get it sooner or later. Yeah, I was disappointed at myself for that, but when we did the known distance and I was hitting the target pretty well at 400 yards, I said, hell, this stuff works. I would never have believed I could reach and hit a target at those kind of distances without a scope. So better not make fun of me unless you are well beyond 500 yards. Ha.

Anyhow, here is a link to some of the pictures I took that I posted online:

Kirby,

Hang in there brother.  You are almost there.  PERSIST.

Thank you for providing the pictures.

You've got a talent for it, no doubt.

Remember the tips I gave you on the FAL.  Good stuff.

I will see you again on the Appleseed trail.

Take care.

Well alrighty then..lol I have been very busy since I got back seems alot of folks here in Oklahoma are all fired up about the up and coming events ...I have gotten at least a half a dozen calls about the shoot in Grandfeild My work should pay off...I hope a few of you can make it to the March dates Ive yet to see the numbers as of yet but they look promising as of now..

Now for the boot camp ....

I drove a long way to find that I was the first in to camp. And being the first there Scout gave me the trailer to crash in ..LOL man I dont see how I could have made it the whole week without that comfort of knowning I could stay warm and sleep..I passed out as soon as I got there once I woke up I got to meet curt. We rode into town that night and got to know each other ..This was his first time to a camp like this and like many others new to this he was reluctant to what was to come ..lol Like I told him dont worry about it till you see the black choppers ..lol but like the others he seen the light of day once we got to shooting the AQT's..I have had alot of rifle training over the years and to see these bunch of guys take to this like ducks to water was a joy for me...I wish we could have had a camrea on each of them when they got on the KD range..It was like a light popped on when they walked down and seen what they could do with a rifle at the ranges we fired from.lol told you curt its all good from here on out if you can see it you can hit it....Acog and all.......

Enough about curt lol He's a riflemen now........

Each night was filled with great talks and alot of kidding around ..The age gap was big we had grumpy ole men and young pups and we all seemed to pull together when it counted...I never seen as much as a cross word or a dirty look from any of the guys even when the AQT's werent going well for any of us we all just bellied up and drove on..At least we knew what we were about when the sands and winds kicked up on those days lol..And to think we had 4 guys shoot riflemen that day..Wow

We had some great guys show up to chase the AQT's this week...Each one had a reason for coming but it was the need to help the program that all of us had that made us drive long hours to a place in the middle of nowhere's ville....Texas has alot of fine men doing a job thats needs to be done ..For the last year I have seen alot of talk on here about Cali and Texassen's and which ones the better team ..LOL hell like it matters in the world of APPLESEED All I know is that if Cali has but just half the heart these boys do we are in good shape as a whole..LOL Fred can eat his words before to much longer...Scout will be the waiter on that meal lol

Now to touch on the team Scout's put together...Not like Ive seen many when it comes to ibc or even rbc ..But when I got to see just what kinda guys he came up with to teach us it was amazing!!!!!!these guys put up with us even when they knew we were ate up with bad habits and all....You know when they said APPLESEEDERS come from all walks of life its true ..We had doctors and lawyers and Simple old farm boys and we all worked together .And as a few of my fellow shooters said this stuff works..lol

And it did we seen just how well it worked that weekend ..After a week long trail of shooting and classes we shared our new found skills with the event Appleseeders..To see mike dave derrick hell all of them stand up there and do this like they were born to do it must have made those Sports drinking red hats feel like Super stars..lol We did great and they all walked away with a new skill they never knew they had till that weekend..Sure I had to hang out with the ladies It was fun to help them out they did have a great time ..lol I had to see if the myth was true about how they learn faster then men .And I walked away with that they do and you dont have to tell them things over and over again the take on task then grab the next ..So that myth was proven.twice lol ""At least it sounds good ""lol I had a ball either way ...

But the week was filled with many fine folks doing great things ..Even the the two brothers that shot the riflemen scores were one of a kind..I enjoyed all of you and once we all got warmed up to each other the fun was on... lol  I will say this the city boyz got alot to learn about camping out for a week lol..NOTE TO SELF " do not I repeat dont cook your soup on a bed of coals and not vent the can!!!!!It wont be there when you come back!!!lol Yes that big ass bang you heard was your supper flying through the air..And one more thing that pretty fire you see in the stove isnt for looks when it goes out the hot showers go out too...lol like pop said sure the waters great lol....We had many first time things happen to them guyzzz lol But they will always remeber the lessons of that week lol I had a laugh a day from the showers to the sunscreen .....

But like all good thing they must come to a end....... :'( I hated to leave that place but we all have lifes to live and things to do ...I would do it all over again and oneday we will IBC is the next step why dont we all do that once the red hats hit our heads lol....Besides you know you want to get a first call at oh dark dam is he yelling again in the morning early lol....You think you hated it try to put your self in my troops shoes when I was a SGT.lol in the army lol They hated hearing me then and you guyzz hated too lol I wont share my lines on here but you all know what I was yelling lol.....I for one had a hard time driving home wondering if I would make it all the way back homewith very little sleep  ...I kept thinking of the pass weeks events and then as if it was only a hour had passed I was sitting in the drive way listening to my dogs telling everyone DADS home DADS home...And I drug my junk in the house and what was the first thing I did yep I had to turn the APPLESEED site on lol I'm hooked And like all of the others here..I cant wait till I see the crowds and red hats gather in a field somewhere to share the stories of Americans of long ago.....So add 13 more to the team of folks bailing this boat and save us a job or two ...We might not have all those skills mastered but we are trying and in some little way I know we had made a difference on that weekend I seen it in thier eyes as the thanked us for a job well done...

Now ask yourself Is a Boot camp something you need to do?If you ask these 13 guyz they would say "Its the best 200.00 they ever spent" Spend a week with brothers and sisters and tell me it wasnt worth it ..You cant!!!!  Now go find one and be one of the few that knows just what they are about...Your founding fathers are worth the time ,Its the least you can do as a American to say thank you for what I have...

DAVILLA TWO OH NINE

THANK YOU FRED FOR THIS FINE PROGRAM THIS STUFF DOES WORK....AND SCOUT IN THE SPIRT OF THE RANGERS ..SIR YOU LEAD THE WAY .....

Will someone please post a photo of Respiratory POP in his Tri-Corner hat already?!  It's already Thursday and I can't believe no one has posted this yet.

Sounds like another fantastic week at Scout's 5-star Hill Country resort.

POP

Mr. Upsetter rides herd on me pretty tough.  But, you guys, well, OK.
And Mrs. POP laughed when she read OG's note.  She might be persuaded OG to make another one ... but, only "fat guy xxl?"

I have all my pics (including the ones voortrekker took) downloaded.
I just installed coreldraw/photopaint blah blah blah. now i can cut the pics down to suitable size for the forum or for emailing.

Not an excuse but, so you will know, my computer tech (Sally) just got Outlook back working so I am getting to know the old Laptop again.  As I say, not an excuse, I just adapt, overcome, and persist until ...

"scooter" who came up with that.  It is rather fitting.  It did not slow Doug down one bit.  Surprisingly I would see his scooter track all over the range from five meters back to the target line and everywhere in between.

So, I'll work on a selection of pics from flags bucking the wind to some of Davilla's finest on the line, eh Lab Rat?

See you on the trail,
