Greetings,

What a beautiful weekend for an Appleseed! Although a bit "airish" in the mornings (41 degrees on Saturday and 34 on Sunday) the sun's rays warmed things up to make things quite nice for the remainder of both days. (Thank you Florida for being the "Sunshine State"!)

A great group of eight shooters made the event a pleasure to conduct. Despite the cold start all the shooters made progress and were soon putting up groups of less than eight MOA. Results from the Greencoat targets showed some real potential. (Kadrianna, one of the two "utes" that attended the shoot, was really hitting the 300 yard silhouettes accurately.) There were a few finicky rifles that were dealt with by using loaners provided by instructors.

The first two "Strikes of the Match" were presented at lunch with the 3rd being made later in the afternoon.

Two AQTs were completed by the end of Saturday with signs of progress being made by all the shooters.

All shooters returned on Sunday and after reviewing all the Safety rules and shooting instructions we checked zeros on the Squares, shot one Greencoat target and then began shooting the the AQTs in earnest. Kadrianna, youngest of the four in the Grinstead family, scored a success on her Appleseed debut by posting a 213 to win her Rifleman's patch. Congratulations Kadri! Carl, Krista and Silas were all proud to see her earn her patch.

Steve and Robin came down from Jacksonville for the weekend. Steve was using his .223 AR and turned in some strong scores. Robin was improving throughout the weekend.

Greg and his son Sam were also making progress both days using two loaner rifles.

All of the shooters registered scores of Marksman or better by the end of the day.

We did give pause to fire a tribute volley of eight rounds on Sunday to honor Mr. Glen Smoak, an incredible Appleseeder, who was tragically lost to us in an horrific automobile accident. There was a shooting mat set up for him on the Firing Line with his picture on both days.

The Flagler Gun & Archery Club was the host range for the event and we extend our thanks to them for their strong support of the Appleseed program. Two groups of new and potential club members stopped by during the weekend and we were able to do a bit of "7th stepping" with them. Our thanks to club President Steve Canfield for the opportunity.

The experienced instructors FLawyer, 9mm4545, Rambogranny, tomM1thumb and edree all put in their usual outstanding performances. Together they represent several hundred Appleseed weekend attendances to their credit.

Thanks to you all for participating and I look forward to working with all of you again in the future.

Great students and truly pleasant youths. Student participation in the memorial volley was most respectful. Of course there were center fires and cookies.

Some shoots are better than others. This was one of the best. Deepest thanks to all who came out and made it possible.
The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837
