It was an AMAZING weekend for the first Appleseed at the Asheville Armory Range! The weather was terrific, especially for November, the students were determined, and Asheville Armory was a great host.

We had three new riflemen: Patrick (210), Scott (210), and Matt (213). Yes, you guessed it - Patrick and Scott got baptized in North Bridge water. However, the big news of the day was Will (Laertes) scored 250! Will started with Appleseed in 2012 when he was 8, he scored rifleman for the first time a little less than two years later in 2014 at 10, and now he's scored a perfect 250 at 16.

We all had a great time thanks to Matt at Asheville Armory, and we hope to do events here for years to come. My sincere appreciation goes out to the rock solid instructors who joined me for the weekend: Rimbo, R-Mack, Tar Heel, Laertes, and Meditative Marksman (who helped to set up the event).

Congrats to all the new Riflemen and a special "well done" to Will and that 250. Very impressive indeed!

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"

I have come here to chew gum and teach riflemen the art of shooting one hole groups and I'm all out of bubblegum.
